Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Just had the most hotchpotch dinner ever. Hoping we will be ok :) had some cooked pesto pasta in the fridge and added a freezer mystery box I'd defrosted yesterday. It was sort of chilli with chorizo, prawn and chicken plus red kidney beans. Threw a handful of cheese on and served with fresh salad and ciabatta. All the carbs :) I'm not going to lie, it wasn't delicious. But it was food.

NSD and some good news from accountant. Apparently the business made a small profit last year. Have to sign off corporation tax filing for next week.

Managed a £15 PAD just to beat my hoped for target for the month. Now I really can hear the wood as we scrape that barrel.

Think I'm going to plan a small easter Egg hunt for son on Sunday. Can't decide whether to do it in the garden or our local park.

Hope Monday hasn't been too bad for everyone.

    Bob

    Quote for the day

Wake up every day stronger than yesterday.
Face your fears and wipe your tears.

Right you lot, there is no room at all on this naughty step so you can all stop idling about, get up and go and do something to redeem yourselves.

Good luck with the mortgage broker XSpender at least OH's salary being £3000 better than you had said is better than it being £3000 less.

Thanks for your encouraging words Bob. Well done on the mystery dinner and on making a profit (however small).

Calling :j Congratulations on reaching 74% of your debt paid. Hope you manage the long term house fix. One thing I have learned is that some things don't cost as much as you would expect and some don't cost much at all. It is just when you have no money you are afraid to call a workman in case it costs more than you have.

I've had a reasonably good day. Next door neighbour was having her fascia boards painted and workman asked if he could come in my yard as her shed stopped him reaching the bit at the end. DS3 had already said he could. I asked if he could clear my gutters and he did it for a fiver - I offered him £10 twice. When I had them done at my dad's house it cost £20 and that was 10 years ago.

Well there is nothing like the thought of someone being able to look in at your windows to motivate you so I cleared away all the clean pots and did the rest, gathered up the bag of rubbish I had collected, filled another with rubbish from the back yard and backs, moved a load of stuff in the yard that was by the house (where he needed space for his ladders).

Lost the list of what I have done but have several portions of mash and sweet potato mash, boiled a pan of eggs, cooked small turkey and pork joints, made potato salad, marinaded chicken breasts in tandoori mix and cooked them, pared and cut off the nasty bits of some old cheese and mixed it with onion + some ys cheese coleslaw (sorry for calling you Apple) for sandwich fillings.

Have cleaned the fridge and written full fridge and freezer audits whilst putting things away. I am out of small plastic bags and nearly out of foil so the remaining bread will have to be cling filmed. Have a layer of things freezing in the top three drawers so the rest will have to be done tomorrow.

Also washed two loads of washing including the front room curtains which DS3 got down for me and moved (again with help from DS3) an old double kitchen cupboard from the kitchen to the bathroom in place of a smaller one. The cupboards came from the other house and were temporary storage under the stairs. Pulled them out when we were putting the shelves up. two small ones were used in the bathroom and the large one has been hanging round the kitchen getting in the way. Small one will fit back under the stairs.

Today I am grateful for getting a lot done bit by bit,
for having a lot more space in the back yard and being in a position to start organising it
and for DS3 who has been a little treasure today (wish he'd eat his ice cream though and give me some space in the freezer).

Removing myself from the naughty step and trying hard to redeem myself ;)

Today has been a NSD :) I went to the gym this morning - doing well on the exercise part of the challenge. Can't remember if I said but I've signed up for a 5k in May so that will keep me focused. Gave the flat a good clean so that I can relax during my holiday. I also went to the library so have plenty of books to read during my week off.

I feel redeemed as I have hit the NSD target already - yay!

And dh has also redeemed us - he used one of our vouchers up at Sainz and had to persist to get them to validate it. They tried to say it was so old that is was not valid any more, but he was having none of it! Anyhow, we shall be using the rest of them asap, but only buying things that we usually buy there, but in bulk.

So, I've fidgetted and wriggled on the naughty step and it is nice and shiny - anyone could look in through the window and be dazzled by it!

Off to make lunch - 6 veg + coleslaw + hb eggs. YUM!!!

    Morning all,

    Wow mothernerd, busy day!

Yesterday and Sunday were SFDs. Really proud of yesterday's as had some upsetting news at work (again!) and felt I 'needed' a takeaway but I resisted :)

Apple congratulations on being persistent about the voucher. Do you know where it came from in the first place?

MissTara good luck with the 5k. You are doing great with your fitness goals for this year.

Fmess well done on resisting the dreaded takeaway. Sorry to hear work is bad though.

Fmess Well done on resisting. :T I had a similar day yesterday as I got some shocking news but I ate giant milk buttons that I bought on offer 2 for 1. They were in the freezer and now they are not :o

Today will be a SFD. I'm trying to have them every Tuesday as a rule unless there are really good reasons not to :)

I'm going to dig over my little herb bed today and dig over one of my borders for exercise today. I might cut the grass too but I am working from home today so we'll see...

My debt busting steps up a gear in August so I might have to cancel my gym membership before then and try lots of walking and gardening instead as I'll not be able to afford an expensive health club :( so practising looking for exercise opportunities from now on in my everyday life

I will eat healthily today to make up for the chocolate.

Thinking of doing the 5:2 diet for health reasons but also to decrease my shopping bill :)

    Have a good day turtles

    Hello ,

hope you are all doing fine. Just back from our holiday in Germany at my parents'. Had a great time with the kids, some great days snowboarding w/o the kids and generally good fun. Spend more than expected, partially due to unexpected bills like a tyre clamp for illegal parking in the czech republic . The food and beer was amazing. Probably consumed 2 months worth of red meat in 10 days :rotfl:

Just skimmed through the last few posts so far and like the post about not giving up by Bobarella. This months seems financially ruined but I'll try and save it as much as I can :D

Came back home to some of my seeds having coming up inside (peas, kohlrabi, leeks, pak choi, tomatoes, cucumber, brussels, broccoli). Nothing in the garden yet (carrots, onions, parsnip). Started some more seeds inside (beetroot, spinach, beans, dill, chillies, peppers...) yesterday. Want to try loads of different things this year. Let's hope it'll be a better summer than last year where hardly anything grew well.

Reading a book about mindfulness and got to the bit where you actually learn how to practise it. Will hopefully make time this week to start.

First day back to work was yesterday and went to the gym too. Today I tried my first outdoor run at lunch time as it was so sunny. Sore all over but feel good.

    till later
