Eating better this week and have managed 2 NSDs in a row:D
We are off for a 2nd viewing on the house we saw last week tonight. We have number crunched till we are blue in the face and have our mortgage offer all lined up for the full asking price.
I have mentally moved in :rotfl: I have a vision of how the house will look and each room be decorated, something that never happened with this house and we have been here 10 years! It may take 10 years for us to get the house looking like I want it but an opportunity to buy a house like this in this particular area may not come up again as they are so rare. Fingers crossed we still like it and can agree the right price.
I have claimed £13 from TCB and have a free night to claim from h0tels.c0m. Hopefully I will earn another one by August and we can use them for a little family break as we wont be having a summer holiday this year.
DH is working late a lot this week and over the weekend so my plan is to list everything in my full freezer and stuffed pantry and do a meal plan so we can spend as little as possible next month to maximise our savings.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Hi everyone, long time no post!!!!
Sorry I don't know where this month has gone, I have spent just over £63 so far and that was in the first week, so I have been though the cupboards, freezer etc and a loose menu plan was done and so far I haven't bought much else but I will need some milk and bread this weekend so that will only be a small spend.
I have spent all day in my back garden making it look better, I erected the small 'greenhouse' and transferred my trays that have been planted up into it, and then moved dgd house into a better position. I planted a few fruit bushes and chopped down half a tree/bush!!!! It doesn't read as much but it has taken me most of the day but the weather had been sunny and warm, so I really enjoyed myself.
I have put in my fuel allowance for the month and notched up 11 sfd, so not doing too badly. I'm off now to catch up with you all, well the last few pages at least so I hope you are all keeping positive, well and happy, oh and I hope you all had a lovely mothers day.

Evening all
Work is just like I've never been away and today was a particularly taxing day with lots of challenges followed by a long and non stop parents evening. I'm pleased to be surviving and pleased to report that my mood is still pretty good.
In other news - I have completely run out of money - my bank account is empty. All bills etc are paid, and dh has £200 cash which should easily do us the month. Even better than that, he went back to work yesterday. Just 4 hours at a time in the warehouse, but he's back and seems ok with it. To say I'm relieved is a bit of an understatement...Not giving up

Life is short
Life is for living, you only live once,
So seize every moment, take any chance,
Who knows what tomorrow may bring,
Take pleasure in life, enjoy everything'
Don't leave till tomorrow what you could do today,
You never know what is coming your way.
Go for a walk, visit the park,
Don't go home till it's nearly dark.
Enjoy every day as though it's your last,
Don't waste time dwelling in the past.
Follow your dreams, laugh and have fun,
because Life is too short and you only get one.

XSpender you are certainly making getting up half an hour earlier work for you.
misstara hope tea with the girls was fun.
FunBrum have you seen the 'procrastination monkey' cartoons - I just tried to find them but just getting TED talks. eat those frogs on the 'to do' list.
fmess so glad you survived your hectic day. Well done on booking people in to give you quotes.
clippy girl well done on sorting out your garden and on not needing the vaccination (money saving as well).
doingitanyway congratulations on calling the electrician (I know you find it difficult) and waxing your table. I have a table that needs doing but it's more important to fix one of the legs first and it's far too heavy for me to sort on my own. Snap to having a spare mattress under the bed (mine might be going if the Council will take it - the charity shop already rejected it).
Sorry for going awol yesterday. I was having a difficult day. Got my act together in the evening and discarded/ transferred lots of scraps of information and put a definitive jobs list together (rather than jottings on the back of library book lists etc). I want to do the garden (along with several other jobs you have reminded me about) but I always count that as a fun thing so it gets further and further down the list.
Today I have tackled three of the problem areas that were stressing me out. I have spent three hours on mum's paperwork by which time my back was aching and I was ready to explode. Her partner has Alzheimer's and has recently started to mess with paperwork so all the long-term stuff is going to stay here and the day to day (utility bills and pension payslips) will go back to her in the new metal lockable file box).
Someone (probably me) told her many years ago that financial stuff should be kept for 7 years. Unfortunately I didn't sit down and tell her what was and wasn't important so eg she had a building society account which she closed in 2007. I think some of the money from that went into 2 different accounts (ISA and DS) in 2009 and matured in 2014). Thought she had changed this into her new account but now looking like she has kept it on (only getting 0.25% interest). So worked my way through a pile about 2" thick (found more later) discarding things like the right to cancel papers (saved both copies) constantly checking account numbers as all the paperwork was bundled together and (one of my real bugbears) all put back folded into the original envelopes.
Hospital visits paperwork was fun too. Not in date order. Also cleared the spare bed in the front room (has been being used for tools and other items being sorted) stripped the sheets off (washed with DS3's clothes from his trip across the Pennines) and cleared everything off my own bed, remade it and sorted some of the things in here. Need a massive clear out but trying to do a bit at a time in case I just get a binbag and throw the lot. Have found a few more bits that will help with diy jobs here and at mum's bungalow.
Today I am grateful for wholemeal wraps and low fat cheese spread (default when I am too tired to think what to eat), for quite nice weather (actually took my cardigan off for the first time in ages - I have been putting putting it back on after I change into my nightie as well as making myself into the filling in a quilt sandwich) and for not giving up (the fight back begins). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
mothernerd gosh I felt stressed just reading about your paperwork encounter. I wonder how many old people have accounts all over the place that are not passed on to their relatives when they do pass away. Do the banks just grab that money?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Bob I looked up the Frugalwoods blog. Very inspiring. There a few blogs i like to read on the subject if 'all things frugal'. They are a wealth of knowledge!
Cool FB really pleased you liked their blog. Mrs F wrote a great piece today about Time Optimism. Essentially always thinking you can do more with your time than is physically possible but then feeling dissatisfied because you didn't do everything in the list. I'm probably summarising badly but I certainly identified with the spirit of it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning turtles.
I ended up losing a SFD yesterday for 3 pounds hey ho it was a cheap night even if I did cough for most of it. Talk about growing up in the town I grew up in, aimed for people at least 10 yrs older than me but got nagged to go by brother as he lives hundreds of miles away, so interesting, met lots of people haven't seen in yrs, brothers friends and found out lot about life then. It seemed so nice would like to time travel back please.
Today off this afternoon and getting my hair cut. Hope they don't keep me hanging around with wet hair as coughed since 4am this morning. After that going home to have a little snooze. No kiddie collection today.
Work recovered the 40 pounds they overpaid me grr was hoping they may forget but still managed to pay another 20 pounds off my debt today phew
SFD only up to 7/16
Was going to get passport photos done today but look frightful so maybe not.
Otherwise life is good and will try an live it to the max shortly.
