Made a chilli last night so glad I did, made my chest feel less sore. Looking forward to leftovers tonight. Still unable to drink wine which I opened a week ago so unless I can cook anything in it, may be binned. Hate waste.

Is it red? - great in chilli or bolognaise :) I have been known to use rose and white up in stir fries or frying things like fajitas :)

Regardless of which colour it is, it can be frozen and then used in cooking at a later date. Either in an ice cube tray (and then emptied out into another container/ a bag) or in little tubs :)

    Evening all :)

Spending today on donations to Sport Relief (non uniform day x 3 + donation to play something sporty at break for 1) and also on some lovely flowers for my nan's 86th birthday :) Needed milk, so decided to do a full ald! shop and also picked up some YS items in Tesc0 (inc meat - and I'm meant to be using up freezer contents - however, there's still quite a lot of empty space in the freezer even after adding the new purchases and the bargains were fab and I should still be ok with monthly budget) Went out for afternoon tea with my nan and 2 other relatives - cost to me = £0, as one person paid for it all (Groupon offer :D)

Volunteered for 3.5hrs this morning and have brought 2 loads of washing home with me to do. Also parcelled up lots of items this evening which we have collected to send off for recycling to fundraise (see teracycle.co.uk) so will need to go to PO to get rid of these. It currently fills my car boot and most of my back seat, so I'll probably drive to PO tomorrow just to get rid of it all! :)

    Have a lovely weekend :)

    Hello Turtles

My getting up earlier hasn't worked so well the last 2 mornings as we have had DS in bed with us for one reason for another and the dog had me up at 2am for a wee last night.

Still, I have been quite productive and have managed to buy a house!:D ;) Looking to move in June so saving like a fiend until then.

Listed what was in the freezer today and disappointed to see almost no meat but tons of frozen veg. I do have 2 big bags of quorn mince I can put to good use though. I was hoping there would be enough to have a really cheap month next month on food but I have been buying less and we ran the freezer down a while back so not much to go at.

Spend day today on food, printer paper, easter eggs and some school polo shirts for DS from Mr T.

I have gone over my food budget, I have underestimated how much I would need/want to spend on food for our week away. We tend to get easy to prepare stuff like ready made roasts and more treats than usual when we are on hols as we don't eat out a great deal or spend a lot on activities. DH has won some money on Cheltenham and this will go towards holiday spends. Not sure how much there is so may put some in house savings too :)

This weekend I need to sort out all our stuff for holiday as we leave early morning on Good Friday and I am away with work or late in every night next week! Won't be taking much and will be jeans and jumpers and walking boots most days.

I also need to fish out all the paperwork we will need for or mortgage application as we will be speaking to the broker on Sunday and will have to post it all before we go on holiday.

Hello fellow turtles and thank you for all the positive comments.

I'm afraid my little windfall blew me off track as all the little things I've been denying myself are now possible, although it's mostly food shopping as I allowed the cupboards to get too bare.

    Today I am menu planning

Today I took lunch to work, took my flask of coffee to work and fruit too

    I only drank free coffee

    I walked 30 minutes

Tomorrow I am home so I can do more 'home-based activity' but I managed to sneak some junk into my rubbish collection and when I got home it was all taken by the bin men :)

    Sleep well turtles

    Evening all,

I was sure I had posted this morning but it's vanished.

SFD yesterday and today but I am completely broke with two events before payday! My sister owes me £20 so hoping she'll pay that back tomorrow and I can use that for tomorrow's outing. I have just been tutoring so got some cash for next week but can't make any more overpayments until next Friday. I'm so impatient!

    Evening turtles

Not a great deal to report - did a tidy up of my accounts today and made a £14.67 payment to the debt :) It's been a spend day, got some dips on the way home to go with tea plus managed to pick up some YS meat to stick in the freezer.

On a late shift tomorrow so plan to go to the gym in the morning before work. Only two more shifts to go until holiday :D I've made a list of the various jobs that need done round the flat so plan to get those done while I'm off.

ccl remember to keep resting when you can.

greent sounds like your spending was for good reasons.

    XSpender yay to the house:j:j:j

doingitanyway well done with the meal planning.

Fmess good luck with getting your cash back from your sister. Re paying off your debt - will you not get paid a day early because of the bank holiday?

misstara what dips did you buy. My favourite dip is plain yoghurt with a teaspoon of mint sauce stirred in. I also add garlic but use mostly yoghurt and only a little mayonnaise to taste (because I really need to cut the fat). I am not a big hummous fan but I have bought the selection pack ones ys'd and really like the tomato and basil one. I have replicated it several times buying ys hummous and adding tomato puree and fresh basil (little Arseda often sells the fresh but grown in soil ones ys'd to 10p when they have nearly killed them - usually recover with a good drink of water and even continue to grow).

I have been reading Mr Money Mustache as well as other threads on here. I have had a SFD (not left the house). Need to get tough with myself as my extensive house jobs list is not reducing quickly enough.

Today I am grateful for my new glasses - typing is so much easier and I keep reading the labels on the stuff in the bathroom, just because I can
for simple food - saved the SFD when my stomach started rumbling with a cheese spread wrap (my favourite bread is missing from all the shops) and a fruit yoghurt with porridge oats stirred in
for Chumbawumba and the lovely Rory Gallagher (RIP) for cheering me up.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Morning Fmess,

I thought I was early but you are earlier

Thank you mothernerd the planning has begun! I hope you like your new glasses. I am going to get glasses for the first time this month. My work will make a contribution so I'd better do it whilst they are willing to help.

Today I have made a massive chilli with my reduced price organic beef :)

I made a salad, crudites, singapore noodles and a tahini dressing. I have apples. I am about to make soup. So, no excuses for eating badly now.

I will take the decluttered charity stuff to BHF as it is near the health club and I am going to my yoga class this afternoon. :)

    I haven't yet identified a snagging/household job but I will

It won't be a NSD. I have planned for one on Tuesday. In fact I want to get into the routine of Tuesday always being a NSD

    So, thats me :)
Have a good day my fellow turtles :)
