We've offered full asking price for the one mentioned above - its worth it. Has a great feel about it. Fingers crossed!

As I said last week: "All other issues aside, it's always 'how we feel' that matters most." :D

I feel it offers better value too, but I'm [STRIKE]worried[/STRIKE] intrigued about that gate in the fence between it and the neighbour on the end....

    Hi Dave

    We've had our offer accepted!

The gate in the fence is to provide access - we have the right to access through their garden for bins etc (back in the day it was the coalman!). Not an issue for us no one has rights access to us.

    Now to sort the mortgage!!

Hi guys just a little update - we bought and are VERY happy in the £250k house! I think we got a really good deal. The house that was on for £290k is still on the market... reduced to £279,950. This says an awful lot. 2 offers accepted and have fallen through....

So to be clear you saved 40k on a similar house?

No, to be clear they bought a very different house for the full price that was being asked for it.

I'm afraid this doesn't suit your agenda at all, however you try and twist it.

How does the more expensive house now dropping it`s asking price suit your agenda?

To be fair the OP said both houses were "similar".

The houses are 'similar' as they are within 50 yards of each other , are terraced (although the pricey one is end of terrace) and same number of bedrooms.

The seller of the higher priced one was a nightmare. We offered more than its for sale now and just a lesson in sometimes things happen for a reason.

I am not saying I saved £40k on the house at all but I think it shows we paid a good price for ours. In that the more expensive ones (there is another on the same road as the original £290k an since there are only 10 houses also just reduced after 6 weeks on the market) are likely to be over priced.

I got so much good advice and made me think more clearly about the houses on here I wanted to update you all! Thought it might be interesting for all the lovely folks who took the time to reply to me.
