Where does 'north' begin?

Everything above the Peak District is 'The North.'0

North is about 20-50 miles up on the map from wherever you are.0

. Come to think of it why have the M62 at all?
It is so us Northerners can stand on it and keep the southern wusses out.. and not get our wellies muddy!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I grew up down the road from Watford Gap, so for me it was convenient and easy to learn - north of where I was standing was the North, and south was the South. I, of course, was in the Midlands, as was anywhere I was reasonably likely to be taken by my parents in the car short of going on holiday (so, say, a fifteen-mile radius).0

Im from Peterborough and I consider "north" to be approx Sheffield and up! Birmingham/Derby/Nottingham etc I just count as the Midlands. I would say wherever people say "baaath" instead of "barth" but some people where I live actually say that and I consider myself to be southern.0

Those sound exactly the same if you read them out loud, the way you've written them!
It's a short 'a' sound - so just write 'bath'
not baaaaaaaaaaaaath
Edit: actually 'bath' is how Northerners say it, 'b-aa-th'' is how West Country and East Anglia people say it, 'b-ah-th' is how Southerners say it.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

What about if you're at the North Pole? Does South 'become' North and therefore everywhere?0

I totally agree, we are Midlanders.
For me (a Midlander) the North starts at the M6 Birmingham junction.:)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
