The North starts wherever they say 'bath' instead of 'barth' and put a 'T' in water!0

I'm originally from the south coat of Cornwall so we used to call London 'up North'.
Now living in Leicester, I would probably say north of Sheffield is what I class as 'The North'.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. When we were coming home from a match we always said once we past Watford Gap we were leaving the south behind.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Manchester. Or maybe Sheffield.0

Anything North of The River.
The River being the Thames, of course.
Sarf Londoner, me!
I was very shocked to discover my eldest sibling was born a northerner. I thought we call came from good southern stock.
I'm inclined to agree with you Sue. Islington is like a different world!0 -

My hubby was born in Bath and he says 'Bath' rather than 'Barth' (as it should be!!) Drives me mad. However, he says my name is Cath, not 'Carth', so he's got a point (although it should always, always, always be 'Barth', grass as in rhymes with ar5e).
Depending where you are depends on where north is, but as far as I'm concerned, north starts at Watford!0 -

I grew up in Nottingham and as well as being the East Midlands or the North Midlands, north Nottinghamshire was north and south of Nottingham was south, the River Trent being the divider.
When I lived in London the Midlands didn't seem to exist to people there.
I've been in Scotland for over 30 years now and I still haven't got used to people referring to northern England as south!0
