Words or phrases that annoy you

I have no idea, but it seems to be teenagers (who are too young to remember anyway) and radio djs who use it and it drives me mad.0 -
Basically, which has now become an over used filler word. (Nigel Barden, the chef on the Radio2 drive time show on a Thursday evening, is a great example of this. I grit my teeth all the way home listening to him). I consciously try to never say basically.
Prolly for probably
Revert back
Pre-prepare
Hollibobs for holidays
Chrimbo for Christmas
Celebrity for anyone in the public eye, however remotely famous or infamous
And defiantly which crops up in place of definitely in text/type rather than the spoken phrase.
Arrrrrgh!0 -
Double negatives are quite annoying too....''I ain't done nothing''0

Power outage.
I think it what Americans and radio news people call a power "cut".0 -

Not a fan of 'not a fan of' either.
I confess to using "not a fan of". I have noticed my two granddaughters (age 8 and 5) say it too. Cannot imagine where they've had that from!0 -
Boo more recently replaced with Bae.
When people type Mom instead of Mum, hes instead of his and gawjus instead of gorgeous!! :eek:0 -
"I'm going to trot down the shop"
Err you're not going on horseback but walking!
Oh, and I really, really, really hate it when people are lazy with their speech and say "munz" instead of "months".0 -
The Mrs hates ... 'innit'
I use it every single opportunity I get :-)0 -
I hate 'my' used for something someone likes, rather than something that is actually theirs. As in "my programme's on at 8pm" or similar.
But is that very different to the way its used in other contexts.
I know I look at certain styles of clothing, ways of eating, types of housing and think "That's MY type of housing" for instance and sometimes will say so out loud. Most often used re food - "That's MY type of food" - as in healthy, interesting, fashionable. Used to differentiate from unhealthy, boring and old-fashioned food. So I guess that's the reasoning...sorta...
For a dislike - I don't like "I'm liking...." and mentally change it to "I like" whenever I hear it.0 -
When did people start calling charity shops "chazzas"? I've only ever read it on MSE where a couple of people use it.0
