And are they really all "icons"?0 -

Probably for the same reason every baby is automatically "adorable":rotfl:. Well - some are and some are obviously going to be plug-ugly when they grow up.
We've had our share of dead celebrities being "bigged-up" recently though and I must admit that, as soon as I read of David Bowie having gone bankrupt once - I compared that to how much money he had left in his Will and wondered if he ever paid the people/firms back once he had made "loadsa money" and had my cynical suspicions he probably hadn't done so (despite clearly having the opportunity to do so from all that money).0 -
Going forward.
Back in the day.
Hate those ^^^0 -

All the reports I've read said "close to bankruptcy" or "facing bankruptcy" rather than actually going bankrupt.0 -
I hate 'I don't do ........', as in 'I don't do zoos/ bath bombs/ McDonald's ' for anything the person dislikes. Bit of a superior tone.
Not a fan of 'not a fan of' either.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -

I use "not a fan of" quite a bit, otherwise I sound even more dogmatic than I do already.:o0 -

I hate 'my' used for something someone likes, rather than something that is actually theirs. As in "my programme's on at 8pm" or similar.0 -
I don't mind "going forward" and I use it in work emails, but I find "back in the day" very irritating and I switch off when someone uses it.
Where has it come from? The only time I hear it used is on those American TV programmes that I watch when I'm brain dead and can't be bothered to look for anything better. The Las Vegas pawn broker one is one example.0 -
"At the end of the day, it..." used in any situation not relating to the evening hours.
And conversations or sentences that begin with "So..."
Grrrr!0
