Words or phrases that annoy you

The common use of two times as in 'two times winner' or 'he won two times'.
What really annoys me is the pronunciation of kilometres an hour as kilometers an hour.
An 'ometer' measures as in gasometer, mileometer, pedometer and kilometre should be pronounced to match kilogram (another measurement ).0 -
So if I invite you over for tea, what do you expect?
Personally - I'd take that as meaning "afternoon tea" - ie cakes, bread and butter, etc and being a light meal (because dinner would be a couple of hours later). My personal reaction to that being "Oh that will be lots of sugary stuff then....".0 -
Do come back and tell us how many times he says it and I will count grandson on Tuesday, we can compare notes and commiserate:p
:rotfl: Only a quick visit today, just under an hour, i counted 6 times
So if you count for just an hour and i'll check back Tuesday for your results :rotfl:0 -

Though I notice there is now a modern phrase to effect of "WE are pregnant" - which I interpret as meaning "There was that mutual discussion about whether to do so or no and we both decided that we would do so" and that is why they are saying "WE are pregnant".
The phrases I dislike are:
Magazines saying "We love x/y/z" about some product on the market.
I also dislike the word "Only" put in front of the price of an item. As in every time I see that done it usually seems to mean that they are overcharging for the item.
The other phrase is when people say "Me and Jane/John/etc" and I mentally turn it round in my head into "Jane and I" and read swiftly on.
Or there are those who feel it's correct to say "He asked Jane and I to the party" rather than "Jane and me/me and Jane".0 -
Card companies will only print what is can sell in bulk. There are loads more "sister and her partner" etc than there used to be as less people are married. "To my dog" seems to be on the up too !
Mum is more common country-wide than mam or mom. Mother is obviously generic.
Or even fewer.;)0 -
"Obviously"
Actually, you're wrong.
It's not obvious at all.0 -
My OH gets annoyed when people say "bin" instead of been, and "tu" (like tut without the last t) instead of to.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
