Got an update from Barrats today, the house passed the habitation check so we are still on for the 18th March and we are going for the house tour on 10th March! Going to ask if we can bring father in law to measure up for our blinds (luckily he makes them!) and I hope they would be ok with that. Solicitor has said she will be in contact next week with us as well.0
-
That's good news lorelai. We're going to the house tomorrow but have had no further update from the solicitor, so no exchange date. My life insurance has bees delayed again because the doctor forgot to send the information about my long term medical condition.0
-
Congratulations LoreLai!
Are you in scotland? (I have never heard of a council doing a habitation check )
Haylescom, thats a pain. We have the life insurance through work. Its a good system as it comes off before tax and as its a company one the rates are great
I am not stalking this weekend. We are having some time apart after the backdoor revelation
I really look forward to everyones pictures later! Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Hi everyone!
Sorry I've been quiet this week it's been a crazy one! But I've been readingTygemoth I'm so sorry this is all happening! I can't believe they could change all detail like that! I hope you and oh reach decision your both happy with!
Update from us, I had an email to say they wanted to exchange no later than yesterday, so all my docs had been sent but sent the deposit over this week. Got a call yesterday from my solicitor saying do they have the ok to go ahead. I said yes and they said they'd be in touch when done. It was getting to close of business hours so OH rang solicitors who reported exchange still not happened as they were waiting on builders solicitors. So we didn't end up exchanging yesterday. Slightly frustrating as they were pushing for exchange from builders side then they weren't ready haha!
Our choices meeting: oh my what a funny few hours! So we were allotted 3 hours to make our decisions and I went in with the attitude of 3 hours is a ridiculous time, it'll be quicker than that. We'll let me tell u my mind was mush after those 3 hours! I couldn't have made one more decision that day even if it was sweets or cake? I've never made so many. First we had to sign off electrics, tv points etc do we want any more. Then to the kitchen which took over an hour! Then bathrooms then carpets the floor tiling then Lino! All things I had to choose based on a show apartment I'd seen once! Anyway
We came away frazzled but happy! However now on reflection have decided we did the kitchen wrong and have gone too dark so we are now booked in for next week to redo it! What a nightmare!
Hope everyone enjoys their stalking today! We're giving it a miss going to pop over in Mid march we think so we can hopefully see a dramatic difference.0 -
The options meeting is one of the most taxing ironically enough. Trying to picture a room with one tile in front of you is quite difficult.0
-
Yea tygermoth we are in Scotland, we like doing things a bit different up here haha.0

Chlo88 the choices were tough! Especially if you don't know what you're going to do to your walls!
Still feeling anxious about the fact we haven't exchanged. We've signed everything so hopefully developers won't be getting too frustrated with delays. We've arranged for our new home tour on 19th March and hope to complete on 29th. Wish this was confirmed though as I haven't booked a removal firm! I said we could push it back if needed but the guy on site said they won't want us in later if they can help it.
Anyway, here's today's pictures. We've ended up with a few extras that we didn't want to pay for but have been put in anyway. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/56hj66hcn8im481/AACbKgCz7L0HRTo2oz2_hPZla?dl=00 -
Looking good Haylescom - liking the color of the cabinets.
How did they put in extras that you didn't want? Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
It was just things that we couldn't justify paying the extra for that we'd like to have had, but are there anyway. So the bathroom and kitchen have downlights that were meant to cost £60 per light, stainless steel splashback in the kitchen was £150, exterior light £135, £130 for an extra tv and telephone point. It's like they'd already bought a bunch so have put them in, but I won't complain about freebies!0

I want to join please ! I've been reading this thread since it started .. I am going to try to be positive....
We reserved in October 2015 with Taylor Wimpey for a 3 bed house when the build was already in progress.
Our build completion window for our property was due to be finished was December 2015-January 2016.
Then we were told delayed until end of February 2016 due to company changes to finish standards and bad weather?! It's not ready still !!
And I think to get us to finally exchange they moved the long stop to date of end of April 2016 ( was originally 6 months after last day of the build window so end of July)
The house is exactly what we want, but I don't really know why it is taking so long. It has a roof, windows, garage etc now. One garden wall is missing but it has the fence the otherside. (we stalk the house too!)
Not been able to see inside progress as not 'allowed' on site since our first (and only) visit onto site in October 2015.
All I can think is this house will be built to the most amazing standard now it is taking so much extra time?
So far it's been very stressful with our buyer and never really knowing when we will be in, but we have exchanged.0
