We liked the chrome switches too but so expensive, you can get them from screwfix for £2 each!0

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of price is all this setting you back? A lot of your options are similar to what we will want so would be nice to have an idea
.
Ha I don't mind you asking but I'm it seems a lot when I write it down on a forum ... 8k.
Things like carpet and tiling is calculated on price per m2 so depends on the price of your choice and size of your property. We choose a wool carpet for example.
It's easy to get carried away thinking you are only choosing essentials and when they total it all up :eek:
Take paper, your own calculator or a laptop and add up as you go. You don't have to decide on the day even if they try to make you sign there and then.
Also we found they tried to influence us to get things you assume to be already be included like heated towel rails, tile all walls in the bath room instead of splash backs only etc. Guess this will depend on your sales person.. Good luck !!0 -

Our extras were more like 4k but the bathroom tiles were included. Or flooring costs were per room with an overall price for having it in all living areas. We paid for the heated towel rail, outside tap and power point, along with turf and upgraded kitchen cupboards.0
-
Gosh that seems like a lot fashionvictim! I think we are looking at an upgraded oven and a full tileing of our ensuite and that's going to be about it.
I'm currently having discussions with the OH as I really would like down lighters in the kitchen but she thinks at £60 each they will be too expensive. I figure 4 should be enough (it's about 2.5m x 3m in size) but I honestly have no idea about these things0 -

Absolutely spot on - we looked at a charles church property at one point - they wanted £20 per socket to replace with chrome.
Screwfix has 5 sockets for £20 (these were brushed rather than chrome)
Lots don't realise that they sell ALL the socket types at screwfix - really easy to swap.0 -
Oh yes ours is staying brick too, its a shame as the rendered ones look lovely! but unfortunately we didn't get there in time to reserve one! never mind they are still lovely in brick!
Our front door and garage door will be painted green as all the others on the site are the same.
They gave us no reason for changing the kitchen, we just chose the kitchen then a week later got called back into the office and told it had changed to the L shape and it had already been ordered and nothing they can do - we we're pretty gutted - we did however get some free turf in the back garden for the inconvenience after we complained!
But if we did have the choice we'd much rather have had the original layout. A bit annoying I just hope they don't do things like this for anything else!
Had the email Friday to say that we've exchanged contracts with Redrow! Finally all becoming that bit more real now.
The garage roof has been finished and the plastering and 2nd fix are starting this week. There is also a car electric charging point in the garage - apparently all the plots are getting them! (not that we'll have any use for it!) We've noticed they have also put the path in this week outside too.

Once again though back to my kitchen layout issues.. my other half went to site saturday and collected the new electrical drawings for the kitchen; good job he did as they have taken out 2 of the plug sockets on the new layout, so he's told them they need to put them in as there was only 2 sockets for the whole of the worktop area!
We also got an upstairs drawing in the pack and I noticed the layout has also changed! some of the walls have moved slightly, the bathroom has been turned round and the boiler cupboard has been split into 2 separate cupboards. - We don't mind this new layout upstairs to be honest - however I am annoyed that we were not told about this and we only know because I noticed the plans were different!
I'm not sure if we should just leave this or weather I should email redrow about it.. what do you think?0 -
Cool stuff @hollypop, great to hear you are making progress!
Regards to the changes to plans, I think this is somewhat to be expected. I had a friend who used to measure shop floor space for a living and he said that builders often take plans more as suggestions than as something to actually follow! That being said, it might be worth seeing if you could get some extras out of Redrow for the "inconvenience".0 -
Looking good hollypop!
I'd say it's worth a little email to air your disappointment.
We had our elusive passports returned to us today, along with confirmation that we are only to deal with the senior executive at the solicitors from now on. We've had to answer more queries from the builder about our part exchange- things to do with FENSA certificates and guarantees from before I bought the house! I've only got the photocopies I was given at the time so we may have to take out indemnity. Just another delay to exchange though so still can't start arranging things!0 -

We are same, TW in SE, very popular development!
We've been told no flooring is included at all, which is annoying. We are lucky to be renting at the moment, so we can have a overlap and get it all don't after completion, although I'm impatient and want it all done for when we can move it!
We want similar options:- Kitchen flooring vinyl
- Hall/Lounge Laminate
- Carpets upstairs
- Bathrooms/Toilet - tiled floors
- Wall tiles above bath and wall mounted shower
- Downlights in kitchen/lounge
- Move TV point in lounge
- Additional power sockets
- Outside light, (front, Garden, side (drive))
- Outside tap
- Lawn
TW seem to have gone quiet. We are still waiting for contracts to be released (Our reservation form has now expired) - so getting a bit nervy now and the sales office is closed today and tomorrow0
