Does anyone want to join me waiting for new build to be built and complete

Finally exchanged contracts this morning! Huge relief, it was all dragging on a bit too long for my liking (and more worryingly the builders' too). Frustrating as my solicitor and I were ready to go two weeks ago at least.
Also got an anticipated completion date earlier than expected. Unfortunately, I'm due to be abroad for work for most of the summer and the date they've given is the day after I leave the UK! So I'll get back after 5 weeks to a house I've owned most of that time but not stepped in since it was completed!0 -
Just got my new HSBC mortgage offer through an hour ago, so took around 3 weeks in total. Very painless, one phone query regarding my payslips and that was it.
Been to the site today too, there is a small army at work there now. The CEO has apparently given them a kick up their behind to get my plot and the one next to it done. Rendering is getting done next week and they may actually make it for completion before mid June, but it will be close.0 -
Wow, people really seem to be getting a shift on! Congrats to everyone who is has exchanged and double congrats for those with dates for moving.
Update from us, the roof is finally going on! We've being told they were going to start it a couple of weeks ago but we forgot about the end brick work etc that needed doing. Its really coming together now. Pics: https://goo.gl/photos/kSzg16RByBsegGXM8
Outside of house progress I started applying for jobs on a bit of a whim (I like the place I work now but I don't feel like its going anywhere) and have had 2 telephone interviews and a solid interview booked for a couple of weeks. I spoke with the financial advisor and he said changing jobs was inadvisable but as the money is at least 25% better(!) and there would be much better prospects to grow I'm going to go for it. Annoyingly TW are being as noncommittal as possible and have said no more than June / July, so something that was merely scary before is now downright terrifying!0 -

Good luck with the interview. I've had a few telephone interviews in the past, and I'm not a fan. It's hard when you don't have the body language of the interviewer to go off.0 -
Ooh good luck all esp _Pete_ !
Finally get to go in house on Sunday I am so excited ! Completion still set for 20th !pennyprincess - getting more for less0 -
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the thread but have been following your progresses so far.
My husband and I have bought a Charles Church new build in Warwickshire, and due to exchange contracts early next week. We went for another "house stalk" yesterday and it feels like its going so slowly, and we just can't wait!
Is everyone else finding the wait excruciating? :rotfl:0 -
looks like I can finally join this thread
using EasyMover and Help to Buy through TW. Had house valuation done, and it should be going on the market tomorrow. Paid the reservation fee on a plot today which is due to be finished end of July/Early August...it is the dream house, forever home and I'm too excited.
Keep your fingers crossed for us that we get a good offer on ours and that it gets sold!
Didn't manage any form of discount on the new house, no flooring which I'm gutted about (money is going to be tight anyway) but did manage to get dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freeze all integrated. She also chucked in full tiling and shower in the main bathroom0 -
Exciting times for us, we have our first and only home preview tomorrow, before we get the keys this Friday!! :j
Does anyone have any tips or things we should look out for snagging wise? I assume at this late stage if anything was to be wrong it would have to be sorted after we've moved in as 3 days isn't very long?0 -
There is a list on NHBC website I think Hollypop - let us know how it goes - mines next Tues at ready for my move next Friday!
Went to the house yesterday.. on a beautiful sunny day down here. measured up a load of spaces was going to plan out the sockets but there are so many of them lol. The garden is not ready yet but I'd rather be in earlier with it unturfed than not. Must say so far Foreman homes have been really brilliant and very helpful...I can't actually believe we will be going in early and I love the house. I think the site manager was worried we were in there before it was finished and perfected but all good for us. In short if you are thinking of buying a new build and umming and aahing about going with a smaller local company at this point I can recommend!
