My 2 cats (and probably the rest of the streets) have chewed my netting to make cat sized holes, although they're not using it as a toilet, i'm not sure why they're doing it tbh.

So my point is, try and get some thick/strong netting if possible!

I have just bought 6 Coleus canina - "Pee-Off" plants from ebay in a bid to deter cats using my garden.

this is the first time I have bought such plants so I dont know if they will work or not.

A clear 2lt soft drink bottle filled with water placed where they do their business is said to work, though I haven't tried it yet. The water glinting in the light is said to spook them.

I've tried this by placing several clear bottles around the garden. 100% failure in my case.

Use metal netting (eg chicken wire) and plug it into the National Grid.

    Have you tried freecycle?
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

I did actually try this but it didn't work. I went out today and got some metal netting. It fits almost fine but the edges are not covered. I have got a packet of cocktail sticks in the cupboard so will go out later and stick them down the sides.

When I woke up first thing I looked out the window and saw that the cat had been in there. It's so frustrating and unfair.
