  • I have just been out the garden and put some garden stakes into the ground, and tied string around with carrier bags attached at ground level.
I have also dug up all of the cat poo so they don't smell where they have been before.
I hope this works, but if not it will also stop my dogs tramping near the plants too.

That should work it does for me, failing that very "branchy" twigs. The aim is to make it difficult for them to be comfortable doing there thing so they move on somewhere else.
  • Something like 'Get Off' for the garden. I have 5 cats & it works. Alternatively make somewhere 'nicer' for them to do their business. I have a gap down the side of my garage where I've mixed cat litter in with the soil & they tend to understand they should go there instead now.

the plastic bag thing would never work on my cat, she loves to play with them. cats hate citrus so try putting down lemon or orange peel
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

    Ha! Ha! It worked!

I have just watched my cat go out to the garden, and walk the perimeter of the bags and stakes, and she turned her nose up, and went elsewhere!

I don't fancy having carrier bags all over the garden - what a kerfuffel!
I can think of more effective ways of stopping the cat from sh****g all over my nice little garden...but I would be very popular with cat lovers ;)
If you will the end, you must will the means.

    Hey guys

Sorry if there is a topic on this already .... I'm sure there is .... but does anyone have any tips on preventing the the local cats messing in my veg plant. Have just planted all my seeds but I know that the cat across the road was using my patch as a toilet ... I will be absolutely gutted if the patch is ruined .... any tips please would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks.

Depoending on plot size, netting would be useful, keeps cats & birds off

Thanks for this. The plot isn't very big to be honest. I thought about netting. I will pop out tomorrow and get some. Thanks.

I stuck lots and lots of little bits of stick into the ground, pointing up, and this seemed to do the trick. It kept the children off too!
