Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)

I would love the law to treat Cats the same as Dogs- my Dogs c### doesn't smell as bad as a Cats but can get a £1000 fine so seems only fair to me.
If you get Rats you can poison, trap and kill as you wish, now speaking as somebody whose sister and mother have a mixture of 5 Cats and 2 Rats between them I can honestly say my mothers Rat was the most loyal and obedient pet of the lot. This raises a few questions to the Cat lovers, is your pet above the likes of a Dog, Rat or Fox in being accountable for its actions,? or if you think your cat is entitled to use my garden as a toilet can I post my pets waste through your letter box?0 -
What worked for us was some silver metallic Christmas decorations that are meant to be hung from something like the spinning things mentioned. We have always has at least one dog, but the cats around here are bold and love tormenting the dogs (they sit on the doormat, on the top of a fence post, outside the patio doors, behind the trellis - all within sight of the dog but out of reach). I've even opened my bedroom blind to find a cat asleep on my bird table - one with a roof on it.
We bought eight of these 18" long silver 'icicles' for a fiver from a garden centre in the sale after Christmas and hung them in strategic points around the garden. The cats are still around because we can hear them scrapping, but they no longer actually come into our garden.
I love cats (although I am allergic to their fur) and these are mainly the most sleekest of beauties, but boy are they bold. One (the bird table cat) has climbed in my neighbour's bedroom window many a time and gone to sleep on her bed and once went to sleep on my neighbours legs when she was asleep in bed - scared the wits out of her. And on the other side of me a cat now has its own cover on the sofa in their conservatory as it was always wandering in.Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -
With an attitude such as the above TK, you'll always get remarks such as the ones already given. Sue
Obviously we will always disagree on this subject, but what has made me really mad is the sick minded comments made by some people on here.
There is absolutly no excuse for suggestions of shooting cats with air rifels, putting down poison, or trapping them and dumping them.0 -
Whilst I completely agree, this is a site with squillions of members, so it's going to represent a cross section of society... there'll be sicko's, weirdo's, stupid people, cat haters, trolls, people with a very different sense of humour to yours... etc. Nothing you can say will alter the way they are, and a fair number will enjoy winding you up/getting the attention. The best way of dealing with them is to simply blank them. If a post greatly offends you then report it to the abuse team who may decide to delete it.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
i have never read this thread before... i was looking for ideas to keep my own cat out of my newly constructed raised beds..........like lemon peel and gravel etc not a cat haters corner
some people really really really need to get a life, hello, free roaming domestic animal.......besides lots of other wildlife will sod around in your garden hedghogs foxes and yes i suppose some will say 'i saw the cat do it' but if you did are you spending entirely too much time looking out your window for said cats?
please in the interests of preventing animal cruelty get yourselves a supersoaker that way you can pretend to shoot the cat and as they don't like water you might have a chance of actually preventing the cat from coming into your garden........this won't work for me as its my cats garden too i just want to keep him off bits of it.......:pEvery Penny's a prisoner :T0 -

my mother in law runs about the garden with a jug of water after local cats not because she doesn't like cats but because her own cat is rather aged and although he enjoys his garden having territorial scraps with the neighbourhood cats is a bit beyond him now!!
