We had this prob - cats don't like snakes - get your garden hose and position it around the area he is soiling randomly - he will tip toe round it not too sure - you then turn the hose on occasionally and give him a sprinkle whenever you get the chance - or wiggle it so he sees it is 'alive' - two weeks of this down our gravel path did the trick and he now never dares soil our territory,Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

I'm sick of this now! I have tried almost everything to keep the umpteen neighbourhood cats & strays out of my garden but nothing is working!!
I've tried: lemon peel, orange peel, lemon juice, pepper, vinegar, chilli, garlic, cat repellent crystals, soda crystals, bottles of water, cd's, mirrors, sonic repeller, spikes in the ground, scardy cat plants... I've even got Prikka strips on the fence and they just happily walk on them!!
The water pistol works well when I catch them at it but unless I stake out the front & back garden day & night the little !!!!!!s keep coming back.
There is nothing in my garden of interest to them but they insist on spraying constantly. I've considered getting a dog but it wouldn't be fair to leave it home all day. I've run out of idea's short of a shot gun or poison, how do I keep the flea bags out?????0 -
Do you not like cats in your garden or is it because they are pooping that you don't want them in there?TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

what about someone else's dog? do you have any friends who'd be happy to let their dogs spend some time in your garden?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I have the same problem with cats in my garden. My 2 don't even dare go outside , probably because they were attacked by a great big ginger tom a year ago when I was trying to coax them out. Now the same bloody tom sits outside yowling constantly. Not really sure what to do, but I have covered my beds in plastic which has at least stopped them 'going' there. Am sure I will go home tonight to discover they have dug up my bulbs elsewhere whilst doing their business. The worst of it is that one of the cats is next doors and sits outside their house mewling to get in (when he isn't ontop of my warm compost heap) as they don't have a cat flap.
Grr. Not really sure what to do now, but I might be trying the flapping shiny things as a deterrent. They have even driven most of the birds away now from the bird feeders. I hate feral cats. One day everything I earn will be mine and not the banks... ::rotfl:0 -
Travelqueen, you could speak to the owner of the mewing cat and ask that they get a cat flap, it's not an unreasonable thing to ask if the cat disturbs neighbours. If it is locked out all day it might be being more behaviourally disruptive because of it.
I have a neighbour who has the same (nasty cat, no flap) although it's her calling it in every night and morning which annoys me more than the animal! There's a hole in my shed door so I put a blanket down and now the poor thing sleeps in there in the day, which is preferable to having it stropping around the gardens overtired and grumpy! For everything else, there's MSE :T0 -

Get some cuttings (plenty) of holly, about 12" - 18" long and put them all around the areas most affected by them. Lie them as thick as you can so they can't walk between any. Leave them there for a good long time, the cats will very soon get the message as they don't like prickles. All the cats round us have given up and they had been a perfect pest to us and the birds. I wish you the very best as I know so well what a pest other people's cats are!

. Cat owners cannot be sued for damages; it is an offence to steal a cat; it is an offence to harm or terrify a cat; it is also an offence to put down snares or poison or an unlicensed deterrent.
So one couldn't put them in a box and then drive them away and leave them at the top of a hill or leave out some anti-freeze either:rotfl:Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
......mmmm  sadly possibly not. Though if you called "here kitty kitty" and let it follow you up there ... then scarpered ....that wouldn't really be your fault now would it??! :rotfl:Sealed Pot Challenge 001 My Totals = 08 = £163.95 09 = £315.78 10 = £518.80 11 = £481.87 12 = £694.53 13 = £1200.20! 14 = £881 15 = £839.21 16 = £870.48 17 = £871.52 18 = £800.00 19 = £851.022021=£820.26[/SizeGrand Totals of all members (2008 uncounted) 2009 = £32.154.32! 2010 = £37.581.47! 2011 = £42.474.34! 2012 = £49.759.46! 2013 = £50.642.78! 2014 = £61.367.88!! 2015 = £52.852.06! 2016 = £52, 002.40!! 2017 = £50,456.23!! 2018 = £47, 815.88! 2019 = £38.538.37!!!! :j0
