Where we had bark under the children's swings, the cats crapped there too. So we got rid of the bark and put astroturf down and they even crapped on that.
I don't mind animals, but the reason I don't have any of my own is becuase I don't like the mess they make. So it is a bit annoying having to clean up the mess made by other people's pets.
I used to grow veg in my garden too, but the bare soil was just too tempting for them. So, now I just have one raised bed surrounded by a polythene wall.
I know there is nothing cat owners can do to control where their cats poo, but I think we non cat owners have a right to have a bit of a rant eveery now and then:o .
BTW every deterrent I have tried in thepast has been a waste of time and money
the best way to stop a cat crapping in oyur garden is to buy your own cat im afraid. Or a dog, or even borrow a dog from someone you know for a weekend!
Edit - that was not meant to be insulting in any way. Its just if you own a pet they generalyl protect your property as they see it as their home. My neighbours have no pets and all the local wildlife uses their grass as a toilet. Its really amusing i must say.0 -

I have 2 cats and have a cat flap on my back door, i did this so they're free to go and come when ever they want. My neighbours might think i never let mine inside, but at this very moment, 1 is out and 1 is in.
I see your point about why should you pick up cat poo when you don't have a cat (im agreeing with you, you shouldn't) but should us cat owners follow our cats around picking up poo after them???
It's hard for cat owners as well, as we can't offer any help to any persons garden our cats may visit. We can't control where our cats go and obviously unless you wanna stand at a window all day taking photos of evidence, your not gonna prove whos cat is pooping in your garden.
Could you maybe get one of those cat ornaments, i think they're black and they're mean't to scare cats off. Cats very rarely enter someones garden if they have a cat as well. Mine definately don't go next door cos they have a cat and the cat ornaments i have see are life like size.
Thanks for your reply, she doesn't have a cat flap, i only know this as i can see her back door from my garden. Her cats literally are out all the time, she feeds them outside and everything. Her cats poo right in front of you so i know its her cats unfortunately. I have a cat that i call my adopted cat, he visits me all the time, comes in the house etc but he only uses my back door so they don't mess in the back garden because of his scent, i've tried persuading him to lay on my front garden to put his scent there but he doesn't like it as much :rotfl:0 -
I absolutely HATE cats esp when they crap in my garden   and I've tried several things but short of actually putting poison down or electrifying the hedge
they still keep using my veg beds as a toilet.
And why in god's name can't owners clear up after them?
dog owners carry pooper scoopers - why not cat owners.
If I knew whose cats they were, I'd take it to them and tip it on their lawns/flower beds!
It makes me sooooo mad.
That is exactly how i feel except i know who's cats they are lol! My husbands also spotted one of the peeing on his car :mad:0 -
continualdiamond wrote: »So you hate cats and......i don't care for birds that much popping on my windows or car, so should i stand with a gun and kill the poor things....ummm no.
How on earth is it possible for cat owners to carry popper scoopers???? Incase your unware cats aren't taken for walks, unlike dogs, so yes dog owners carry a popper scopper (dog owner as well).
How do you expect me to clean up after my cats, follow them 24-7 and look like a stalker in the meantime leaping over peoples fence.....hmmm so you'd rather a strange in your garden saying 'sorry just picking up my cats poo'
I get it makes you mad and i honestly would get my cats to poop in my garden if such a thing existed to make them.
In all fairness bird poo doesn't carry as many diseases as cat poo, bird poo also sets and i don't have to watch where my son plays as bird poo isn't as big or as smelly as cat poo. Cat poo could potentionally blind my son AND damage my unborn baby.0 -
Get some empty 2l coke bottles (or similar).
Half fill with water
Lay a couple down in the garden
It apparently scares them off as they don't like them?
It's cheap/free, environmentally friendly, you can do it right now and what have you lost if it doesn't work?
Other thing that I found that worked was scattering orange peel. It's eco friendly too.
Thanks for your suggestions, i guess it annoys me to think i'm going to have to make my garden look like a rubbish dump with various bits and bobs i wouldn't have if it wasn't for these bleeding cats :mad:0 -
Totally share your frustrations. The water pistol idea is a good one, they will soon avoid your garden if it is always 'raining' there!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0

Human male urnine is the way to go, put it in a pot in the garden if its flowers/lawn, it 100% worked for me and cost nothing.
Tried the orange peel/lemon peel just didnt work. Until someone told me about the urine and I though why not worth a go."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
