I love cats, however I don't like there poop!
We've trained our local cats however. Everytime we see one we squirt it with the hose. Its almost like sport but it is humane.
After 5 years all I have to do now is look out of the window and they run away. Less poop for me!

My continuing battle against the catpoop has come to an end - here are all the devices I've tried and my success with them:
1. Lemon peel - doesn't work
2. Human hair - doesn't work
3. Rose bush/bramble cuttings scattered around liberally - doesn't work
4. Garlic - doesn't work
5. Chilli peppers - doesn't work
6. Ultrasonic cat deterrent - doesn't work on all cats, does work on some
7. Silent Roar - doesn't work
8. Half-filled water bottles - doesn't work
9. Mulching with dense woody material - doesn't work
10. Spreading newspaper on the ground - works until it rains and gets soggy, or blown away
11. Wire mesh (i.e. from disposable barbecues - great for protecting seedlings)/plastic fruit tree netting spread over the area - this is the only thing that works all the time, although it's annoying to have my vegetable patch covered in plastic netting, but I can cut holes in it to plant.0 -
Has anyone tryed the scarecrow cat deterant??:heart2:Got Married 1st may '10!:heart2:

cats for me are just like rats, there are hundreds of the things
everytime you turn theres one scurrying over the road.
I ended up getting my lawn flagged because i got fed up of the s***e and having to move it. and like the above nothing worked.
Now my problem is they are now going in my tubs, which i'm just waiting for my bulbs to come up.
I've covered the tubs with bits of carpet grippers, until the plants come up.
But this isn't working, so today i've been out AGAIN moving someones cat s***e out of my tubs, and sweeping my flagged yard.
I'm gonna try milk and crushed tablets......................that should work
Filthy dirty horrible !!!!!! a**e little B*****ds0 -

I tried this and it seemed to work for a few days untill the cats just decided to poop onto the netting instead. I have tried using citrus fruit to no avail and also tried windmills. Neither worked but at least the windmills make my plot look pretty.
I am trying pepper currently to see how that fairs, failing that I am going to have to revert to using chemicals which I dont really want to do but I'm pretty low on ideas now.0 -

The cats have now started to crap on the lawn, too.
Since my outside tap leaks when the water supply to it is left on, I can't get a "scarecrow" until I fix it. So, I'm seriously considering a slightly different approach - I could use one of these to catch any cat that gets into my garden:
Then, once caught (humanely) I could spray it liberally with water until it gets the message, before releasing it outside my garden. Of course, knowing my local cats, they wouldn't be fooled by a cat trap!0 -
Anyone tried these?
SSScat - This works on the same principle as the scarecrow, but instead of water, it sprays a "harmless" aerosol blast at anything coming within range of it. Bloody expensive, though, I've seen it for £27!
Get off jelly repellant - about £6
Electric fence - seems a bit extreme and expensive to me.
I want to find a solution, but it's just so expensive to keep buying and trying useless products! These people say they'll give you a large bar of chocolate if they can't answer your cat deterrent related question http://www.deteracat.co.uk/0 -
On our drive we have tarmac but also a sectiion of grass and no fence as we're no allowed.
Problem is one family up the road just let their dog out the front and lets it wander down the street and chooses our bit of grass on our drive to wee or poo.
Would have a word but in todays day and age don't know what that kind of family would do if you know what i mean.
Also get cats pooing on our tarmac by our window.
Is there anything i can put down to deter them from visiting our drive. I'd put poison down but apparently not allowed (joke!).
Just horriblee as people have trod in it load sof time and is disgsuting and with my daughter just starting walking don't want her stepping in it or picking it up.0 -
Not sure how you'd deter the cats, but I would consider reporting the dog owners to your dog warden. It's illegal to allow a dog to wander the streets.
I would knock on their door and ask them to remove the poo.0 -
Lay chicken mesh over the grass and borrow an electric fence unit from a farmer.
Airborne cats and dancing dogs ! Should give you a wide berth after a few days !
