Just a tip if you suffer from unwanted cats in your garden using your pots as a litter tray.
All you need is garlic, cut it up into small bits and place around your pots/lawn/bedding plants etc.
This DOES work, its cheap and gets rid of cats for a long period of time.
I once was plagued by cats in my garden, I used to buy the stuff you buy over the counter and it worked for a few days but the cats always came back, with garlic they dont come back for many months and when they do start coming back I just do the garlic treatment again.
Hope thats a helpful tip for someone, also I hope im in the right forum :eek:0 -
Would be ok if it did work? I've tried every wife's tale in the book and they dont work.
Garlic is just a strong smell thats all, I've tried it before and it dont work.
Lion crap is another one, cats are scared of bigger cats? and they wont come near a bigger cat, ive nver had any crap to test it out.I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -
You used to be able to buy that from Chester Zoo! Not sure if it was from a lion, but it smelt, er, authentic!

Fill up about five empty 2l pop bottles with water leave them on the lawn, the cats think they are other animals, therefore they don't go on the lawn. :rotfl:.0

Sadly since Foot & Mouth they've been unable to sell any carnivore poo - eiher lion or tiger.... they can still flog the elephant 'buns' though as "Zoo Poo"There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
Just has some nice "beach shingles" spread on front garden. Cats starting tothink its bst thing since proper litter. Have read somewhere that powdered mustard does the trick. Will report back, failing that, a couple of rat traps should do the trick. Cant stand cats doing their business on my patch of ground !0

Wish this thread was a few months ago  . Bleedin' cats just killed my conifer tree by spraying on it. I had no idea what it was till someone at work suggested what it was. By then it had turned a nasty shade of brown.

Cats dont seem to mind garlic plants though, my cat has chewed the leaves of my plant and successfully made it raggly - but she doesnt seem to hate it!

Garlic is just a strong smell thats all,
I challenge you to try it, im that confident that if you buy cloves of garlic and chop it in small pieces you will get rid of cats.
I thought exactly what you did, but tried it anyhow and its the best thing I ever did.
You are right garlic is a strong smell, exactly why the cats wont use your pots/borders as a litter tray, thats the fresh garlic anyhow.
Please let me know if you try it cos I cant wait to say:
