    I've been Money Tipped!
OMG is it really September? Where did the year go?

    Happy Anniversary Aussielass!

I am knickknackerood today! A new puppy is like having a new baby! Just when I think we have cracked the housetraining she goes and messes on the carpet again! Must get some more cheap baby wipes in. She is such a sweetie though and hopefully she will get it right soon. We are giving tons of praise when she does get it right. Penny is already answering to her name and will sit on demand. Also sleeps (well stays quiet anyway) for 6 hours at night. OH and I are doing shifts with her.

Not a lot of time or energy for ol style mse here at the moment but I am managing to freeze down the runner beans and tomatoes from the garden. In order to pick them I put Penny on an extendable lead and have a quick harvesting while she ties herself in knots around the apple tree! Also enjoying reading the american sites that have been listed on the "living on $12,000" thread.

I haven't made the mango chutney yet as the mangoes need to ripen a bit more.

Frogga please can I join too! I need all the encouragement I can get! You would think with all the puppy activity the lbs would be falling off by now!

  • aussielass, no he didn't. I had to get it out after all.

Found jam jars; so I'm making some canned plums and some into jam.

DH drives me nuts sometimes; he gets hungry but wants to do A, B, C... before eating, but knows his blood sugar will then drop too low and he gets the shakes, but does he eat?? No, and my foot being what it is, I dont find it that easy do a lot, and I'm making jam today. So I made lunch and now he's sulking because I didn't wait for him to get off his duff and make it. I'd've starved to death; he said he was making lunch an hour + a half ago!

    Aussielass - Happy Anniversary!

frogga - good luck with the weight loss! Can I join your weight loss group, please?

natzini - a year's supply of Hula Hoops  you lucky thing!!! :D

DH went off to his parents' house this morning to help his dad in the garden, shifting plants etc. They moved to their house about 2.5yrs ago, but having got the house sorted are only now cracking on with the garden. Even though they're mega-keen green fingered folk, the house would never have got done if they left that until last!!! ;)

Meanwhile, I'm waiting at home until our new fridge arrives. Our normal fridge freezer is too tall  to fit under the work surface, and having it by another wall would mean running an extension cable to it, only for me to trip over it................ So, it's in the garage, which is ok for now but it will be quite inconvenient come mid-winter! :)

I've done the ironing and I've got another load to take out of the WM and put outside to dry. There's quite a warm breeze, so pretty good drying weather considering the temperatures recently around here - cool, to say the least!

The other morning, I got up, showered and went downstairs, only to see water marks on the wall! The shower had a leak! Luckily, our new landlord seems very proactive and has just been round to pop some more sealant there. Before we moved in, he'd had the bath out to prop it up as the previous tenant had had problems with it too. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, I'd better go for now.....

    Have a good day all.

  • Frogga, should we start a separate thread for the campaign??
  • HI folks sorry I won't be joining the weight loss club. I cannot weigh myself at all without going mental and getting obsessed with food and weight. But I am right behind you all and will be trying to be healthy too as I am overweight too. Good luck everyone

  • Anniebooklover, it isn't that the companies or the people there are rude, but that they probably get so many letters from hopefuls they can't answer the ones they don't want to go any further with; they would have to hire a person to just answer them; and that isn't financially feasable. And a 'no' letter would just get someones hopes up only to dash them.

And an email isn't as professional as a paper letter, even nowadays, when cold-calling for jobs.

odds DS is only looking for work experience, not a full-time job. He e-mailed a media department of the County Council and a very nice woman there replied saying while she would have been happy to offer him the work experience she doesn't have a big enough office! She did send him a shortlist of companies and suggested that he e-mail them to enquire if they would offer it. He did that - mentioning her suggestion. Not even an acknowledgement.

However, this wonderful woman has said that if he doesn't have any luck, he should e-mail her on her return from holiday and she will help in any way she can.

As for e-mailing job applications, I agree with you. It isn't professional and I would make sure that DS only submitted a paper application for a job. However, I don't think the work experience falls into this category.

frogga I can't give you any advice re DD's friend's sister. You should do what you feel is right. However, if your DD isn't going to see her again then I would be tempted to let sleeping dogs lie. Of course it means that your DD won't be able to have another sleepover at her friend's but maybe she isn't too bothered about that.

Thanks for allocating me my member no on the weight loss challenge. I would prefer not to disclose my weight - I hope no-one minds but I'm just too ashamed to admit it. I will post any weight loss in my sig though.

Hope Saturday is being good to all of you. xx
