Perhaps we should stay on here to do the challenge unless that would upset anyone. Just thought that it will be hardwork keeping up with two threads! Also it might be nice to get advice from the thinnies on here! I'm easy , whatever suits everyone else xxSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Hi!
I'm supposed to be at MIL's today with DH and the girls but he's gone on his own as I had another phone call from my next door neighbour's carer. She's 84 and has diabetes and yesterday she wasn't answering her door, so I went in with the spare key and she was having a hypo(?), her blood sugar level was very low and we phoned 999 and the paramedics spent 2 hours getting her to eat and drink lots of sugary things. Anyway I went back to see her last night and she still seemed confused, so I was still worried about her. Her brother visited her this morning and said she was ok.
So at 1pm her other carer phoned to tell me she had found the house full of gas as she had turned the stove on but not lit it. We called 999 again and a paramedic came immediately and discovered that her blood sugar level was sky high. I don't think she had taken any of her insulin for 24 hours and was very confused and dehydrated. Thankfully they have taken her off to hospital and won't let her return home until she's ok. I'm quite angry with her brother who I think couldn't be bothered in hanging around to look after her today. He should have checked that she had taken her insulin as she didn't have a clue. She's normally such a happy and bright lady and it was obvious she wasn't ok.
Anyway I'm on my own in a very peaceful house so I'm going to make some chicken and leek pies and write a meal plan and my shopping list for next week.
Hope you have a good day.0 -
frogga - I agree. I think it would be better if we stick to it on here and in our daily post, we write about how we're trying to tackle our challenge.
I've just spent the last hour on the 'phone to my best friend in London. She's had a pretty rotten time recently with her health and she's slowly slowly getting back on track. It was lovely to catch up with her and put the world to rights
The fridge has just arrived and is being allowed to settle for 4hrs until switching it on, as per the instructions. It was a very chirpy delivery driver and his mate, which makes these things so much better!
I'm off to the in-laws now. Should turn up in time for a cuppa!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

this is great isn't it ? anyone else?
Yeh.me I could do with loosing 3 stone 4 at the most trouble is I loose it off my face and end up looking like a ferret!!!!!!!!!
I did the cheeky thing and went to my local sewing machine shop, the chap is a sweetie, mind you I did not tell him I had bought the machine......he was very helpful and boy that machine is awesome, the screen on the front moves up and down so at its highest you have a huge amount of space to sew in, 307 embroidery patterns and and 122 designs built into the thing, then you can get cards or download from the internet. I asked if it could clean the floor and make the tea...they told me they were still working on that one. I bought some bits from him, so was not too cheeky spent £30 on thread....
The machine is on its way left at 11.30am this morning, so heres hoping. I am going to have to rethink the sewing table, with the frame out the machine is 18" deep which of course hits the book shelves, maybe I should have another go at putting a photo on then you could see what I mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just about to do myself a very healthy ham salad for my supper, not expecting OH back until after 6pm and I am starving, maybe I should have a glass of water???????????????September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

Hello - a little bit of OS-ing here in the house of Piglet today in that we've turned our blackcurrants into jam
(thereby freeing up some much needed freezer space - when we picked them earlier in the year we were pushed for time, so just pushed them into the freezer!).
Anyway - and this may be related to the above paragraph...note to self: eat less jam!- I would also like to join frogga's challenge please. I have about 4½ stone to lose and would appreciate the support and motivation.
Am now off to Stardrops the bathroom (a rather feeble attempt at exercise!:rotfl: ) and to stick another load of washing in the machine...

Pink, squeaky, any mod?? Can we sticky a thread about weight loss??
Think we should wait and see, but it would help!
Well, made 5 jars of jam, a little left over, then packed plums into 6 more jars, added syrup and hot water-bathed then for 5 minutes. We'll see how they do. Took forever to hack up the plums, they are cherrry plums!
I'm looking out the window watching my DH try to dislodge the old clothesline pole.
Edit: Oops. sorry, I somehow missed all the previous posts!0 -
Evening all,
I had just got through a long post when we had a powercut...inb***dy September, only lasted half an hour, in which time I finished cooking dinner on barbecue and sawed and broke some sticks for the fire later in the year...OH sees no point in saving small ones but they all add heat.
Frogga...can I be in your gang?? Weighed 14st 2lbs this morning and at 5ft 3ins that is around 6 stones too much...will be happy to get to 10st as I think any further and I will look like Csarina's ferret twin!
Don't know what to say about DD's experience...feel that you could probably mention it to the mother, seeing that she is so upset, not sure...you know the people.
Cooked some lovely streaky bacon with cabbage and potatoes to-day for dinner, going to make some hummous in a mo, also made some rhubarb and ginger jam...just about 4 lbs and need to make some bread later. I did some of my ironing this morning, OH now has seven or eight ironed shirts so might do a bit more later...why am I feeling so positive to-day, must be sick.
Aussies...hope that you had a lovely anniversary.
Csarina...congratulations on your new machine...that kind of thing would be wasted on me as I would never use half of the programmes, but to you it will be a great help as you do so much sewing...you know that you deserve it!
Hester...pity that you didn't tell your new lodger that you couldn't take her until to-morrow....I assume that you have no contact number for her? I trust that giving up your little treat for yourself and OH will not spoil your enjoyment of wedding reception...have the treat next weekend and advise your 'guest' that you will not be around to pander...bit rude on her behalf IMHO not to turn up as arranged. Does she speak English fluently, I have found sometimes that people can get the wrong end of the stick...
Busygirl...congrats on being such a good neighbour, poor old woman not fair to have relatives who can't be bothered when you get old. Hope that she recovers well enough to write said brother out of her will!
Hugs to all in need or want, hope that everyone has a pleasant weekend
