DD room has been bottomed! She's sorted out all her teddies- kept lots but isn't it surprising which stuff they discard? She doesn't want any of the build a bear stuff - might try sell that - and a plush Ariel the little mermaid. But she kept the "nut" my mum knitted for her toy mouse (gruffalo story) :D

Anyway it's all tidied, clean bed, dusted and vacced so looks nice again :)

She's currently in the bath with her new goggles on...

Oven cleaned, fridge defrosting, kitchen floor swept and swabbed. The sky's clear here, but the forecast is rain at lunchtime so I haven't cleared the last of the pre-Christmas laundry pile as hoped. Lodger K told me that Tuesday and Wednesday were the first consecutive days since OCTOBER that it hasn't rained (her role means she mixes with people for whom this matters). No wonder I've had to resort to the TD to finish drying stuff.

    More tadpole munching today.

Well the vets was utter chaos. Couldn't get just one dog out of the caravan - the other two were having none of that again, so I ended up taking them all, plus two small children. Then I saw an American vet who kept calling me ma'am and Girl Pup 'Sweetpea'...irritating. New bandage and dressings, plus additional antibiotics as it looks slightly puffy and he wants to nip any infection in the bud before it develops.

Got to go back tomorrow and Saturday morning to have new dressings and a honey-based oilment applied again. Oh, and it would be good if I could keep her bandage dry...sigh...I have a paddy field/mud bath as a garden and she won't go to the loo unless it's grass. I've tried the plastic bag over the foot trick, but she gets it off any way she can.

DD finally emerged at 11.30...had a cup of coffee, some leftover pizza then declared she was stuffed, had a headache, sore throat, felt roasting and was tired again. Checked her over and it looks like she might have tonsillitis :( She doesn't want to go to the walk-in (I'm not even attempting the GP!) so we're trying self care until tomorrow. If there's no improvement she'll be dragged to the walk-in by her ear! She's gone back to bed now, so all curtains and windows upstairs are shut so its as dark as possible (so glad she still has a black-out blind in her room) and I'll make her a hot toddy when she comes down (I've checked, she can have a small amount of alcohol so it will be okay), soup for tea I think as well as I have a couple of cans she can have.

Flying wise I've just put load 3 on, the other 2 are out on the line and I'm going to try and get on with some more work as quietly as possible as soon as I've dealt with todays post (all bills :( )

Nicki.. Alcohol evaporates at 75'C so if it is hotter than that (made with boiling water) it wont have any alcohol in it.

Mr N dropped in to see his mum and she'd had a fall getting out of the bath. Seems just bruising and she won't let him get the doctor. Within the last year we got a social service person or whoever to come and see if she was eligible for a walk in shower (it's a housing association property) as her bath is quite high, she is less agile at 86 than she used to be. They said no, she should get one of those little steps to use to get in and out of bath. Ridiculous - she could easily fall off one of those. So tomorrow Mr N needs to contact them again. And we need to start thinking what next, as sadly she is getting very....mentally not alert and can't remember the name of things (like today was 'that little room' when she meant the kitchen). It's all very sad. she is fiercely independent and doesn't like people doing things for her.
Narc0, I have one of these bath lifts:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Invacare-Aquatec-Orca-Bath-Lift/dp/B00EEHCCT2
Admittedly, I bought it myself (I prefer not to have SS nosing into my life), but it does help.
My situation was that I could get in the bath by sitting on the laundry bin (which is a solid wooden construction and actually doubles as a seat in the bathroom), swing my legs over the bath, and I was in. Having got sat down however, I needed Mr LW to haul me out, as once sat in the bath, I don't have the strength in my legs to get up again. This wasn't doing his back any good, so we decided to get the bath lift.
It works with a rechargeable battery unit which you just take off and recharge after use, and it's easily removed (by a decently fit person) when you want to clean it and the bath.
Would SS consider providing something like that for her?
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
