Morning NP, and Happy New Year to you all.
I didn't stay up till midnight but got woken then by the dogs barking at the fireworks, so I watched the display (very impressive, someone has a lot of money to burn in the village!), comforted the dogs who settled quickly and went back to bed.
A pottering day today as still can't put much weight on my ankle.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Looking for reasons not to do certain stuff (:D) I accidentally tuned into a prog called Shed and Buried (bl**dy autocarrot changed shed to she'd as usual!).
Anyway....it's two motorcycle fanatics rooting round in people's sheds looking for automotive bargains.
I wonder what the ratings are?
Ok ok , it is actually quite interesting!
Although one shed is more like a barn.......it's got a steamroller thing in it!
When I was a kid, I used to love rooting around in my .dad's old (asbestos!) garage.
As well as the old car, there were interesting oily smells, loads of interesting old tools, and all manner of godknowswhats.
(Bit deleted).
I used to like playing with the tools. Chunky spanners and chisels and 'things'. Boxes of old screws and nails and stuff.
A vice screwed to the counter.
I used to put things in it and squash them! :rotfl:
Edit....not living things!
Just odd bits of things!
Edit edit.. It probably explains a lot.(I just lurve spiders!)

They've found this 100-year old petrol pump, which they're about to renovate. It cost them (Patsures....look away now!)......£200.
They reckon if they just clean and spruce it, it, they could sell it for £300, or for a full restoration, ie pumping again, £400.
Watch this space.(I just lurve spiders!)

It has an original canvas hose, which is apparently quite rare, presumably because they perished quickly.
They didn't fully restore it, so it doesn't pump, which was a mistake, they were told.
It cost them £79 in sandblasting, paint and new bits, and two days elbow grease, especially on the lovely brass, and now looks like...
(The photo, which was a snap of the TV screen, doesn't really do it justice, to be honest!)
They sold it for £630.(I just lurve spiders!)

Turns out his nonsense wasn't alcohol but concussion! Apparently he fell back and hit the back of his head on a coffee table...we spent the night in A&E after 111 sent an ambulance. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Yes we are home but with instructions to not leave him alone for the next 48 hours. We made it!
