Na, she just couldn't be bothered going to church this year and had to come up with an excuse.

I know people think she has too much money and privilege, but I'm so much happier being me and knowing that I'll be able to retire at some point and not work until I die. I wouldn't want her life for anything.

My nephews have grown up into delightful young men. They are equally comfortable and confident relating to me and to my kids. It's lovely to see them.

It's actually been great to spend a couple of days with family without being distracted by social media/emails.

I have been online, just forced myself not to get into the swing of work until tomorrow (well today now), as I start pre-planning multiple emails to various people to go out in the new year.

Dreading checking my emails in the morning too.....

She's had choices. It'd have been acceptable for her to abdicate in favour of Charlie Boy... she clung on to get all those records. Longest reign, oldest monarch.... she was a greedy record grabber. Poor Charlie will get about 10 years on the throne at this rate!

    :)

He's no chance of ever getting on the list of longest anything, except "longest sap in waiting".

This, with a thousand knobs on.

I'd rather be me in a manky old cage with an open door, than her in a velvet-lined golden cage where the door is always locked.
Her PR people do a rotten job. It seems to me that so few people are aware of the good she does for this country, yet the media only ever seem to publish negative images.
Be careful what you wish for, is my opinion.
GB without a monarch would be a much poorer place, IMO.

I had a truly dreadful case of man flu a couple of weeks ago. I went through 6 boxes of tissues and felt pretty awful for a week. So, I have the greatest sympathy for Lydia, Sue, and the queen, if they have caught the same bug.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Her father was very uncomfortable as king, after his brother abdicated. I assume the queen had it drummed into her at a very young age that abdication was 'bad'. It's interesting that she's still responding to that early conditioning.

You and I must look at different media outlets. I can't remember seeing anything detrimental in years!

Put it this way; they don't go out of their way to emphasise the positive and beneficial aspects of what she does. Any non-detrimental reporting is pretty tame.

I'd better leave it there, otherwise my monarchist button'll get pushed! :D:D

She had her mother around for a very long time too, who blamed Edward for her "Bertie's" early death, never forgave him and IIRC always referred to Wallis as "that bloody woman".
