Most of that will last in the fridge.

If you're worried about any of it, cook it, chill it quickly and stick it back in the fridge. Just make sure that when you go to eat it, you heat it up very thoroughly.

    Home-made sponge.
Home-made proper custard, made with eggs and lots of stirring etc.
    Fruits. Fruits. More fruits.
Chopped nuts. Flaked almonds. A dusting of cinnamon. A light touch of mixed spice.
    Double cream, whipped thickly.
    More chopped, roasted nuts.

That's not a trifle - you forgot the sherry.

Pastures........leave the raw veg and eat them up as and when you can. If you can't, turn them into compost. For the rest, put them in date order and make a plan. The 29th and 30th are 3 and 4 days away. If you're half a day over, it won't be the end of the world.

Composting is ok as long as it is raw vegetation, so raw veg, peelings, carrot tops etc, raw fruit peel, cores, etc . is all ok. Plus tea bags, (preferably emptied), coffee grounds etc. and washed out egg shells.

Plus garden clippings , cuttings etc.

Rats won't be attracted to that. I've had a compost bin within 6 feet of my back door for 25 years and never seen a rat.

    Touch wood!

Seriously, the only livestock I've ever seen in the bin are those thin red worms which are exactly what you want in a compost bin!

If you make open sandwiches you will use up more toppings in each meal.

Quiche could be frozen, portion now then freeze.

    open sandwiches ... freeze.

I'd have no clue how to eat an open sandwich. Never seen/had one.

I'd struggle to shoehorn one cocktail sausage in the freezer. I spotted too many "bargains" in the lead up to Xmas, then I bought 1Kg bags of frozen veg. No room in the freezer for anything.... unless I eat something, which I can't do as I have to eat the fresh first :)

I bought two cottage pies and a chilli just before xmas and couldn't fit them in until I took out the turkey pack ... and in went the two cottage pies and I ate the chilli.

"This is a wife. She looks happy, doesn’t she? That is because she is on her second glass of wine."

That is from the book my DW bought me for my birthday. The Ladybird how it works series for adults, this one is titled The Wife.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
