    Offer from Lincoln! Unconditional!

I always think that is the best way to treat exceptional candidates, making it clear how much you want to have them - the other option is to have an interview and then an unconditional offer as part of a selling job.

(Aside: I had a friend who got a two 'E's at A'level offer from a Cambridge college (the closest to unconditional they were allowed to do in those days), she was predicted 4A's but after the offer went on to scrape the offered grades - I guess it doesn't work for everyone....)
    I think....

For some it doesn't, it makes them feel they can take their foot off the gas. Youngest is one of those rare beasts though in that he wants to beat the others in the class and prove his intelligence to everyone after years of being told he was not an able student at his previous high school.

He is absolutely determined to get what he is predicted and on results day, politely tell his old school how well he has done since he got away from them.

Edit - Youngest is now officially conflicted on what to do. He loved Lincoln, loved all they do there, the city etc but he now has a series of what if questions with the way York has responded. He is still over the moon though - course offered is Games Computing MComp (an integrated masters).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Bloody hell!

    Oops! 'Scuse my French! :o

Just so excited! That's the one he really wants, isn't it?

Better start preparing for all those hills, then, Sue! :rotfl:

Edit.. Just read your last oost.
Well, he has the interview at York, so could just play it by ear there. And then have a think if necessary.

I love that he has an unconditional offer, but don't let that sway the decision making. An unconditional offer will be a very good back up offer if York (or somewhere else) also offered.

Hehe, think it will be Joe preparing for the hills.

I'm just so chuffed for him after his battles. I am going to have to give his old main teaching assistant a huge hug when I next see her. She had been with him since year 7 and was the one who suggested (several times and quite forcibly at times) to send him up to the college instead of staying at the academy for 6th form and was instrumental in making him feel more comfortable and confident about doing so (he is not a lover of change).

It's amazing the difference going to that college has made, they actually listened to me and allowed him to find his own level rather than going with what his old school had reported...the rest is history.

Before yesterday he would have accepted it like a shot as it was his first choice university, he absolutely loved it there and the course offered is a perfect fit for him. The only reason he is confuzzled is because of the very nice email and very fast response from York.

Well, if he's really wavering, the interview at York with the revisit there may help to crystallise his thoughts, perhaps with another visit to Lincoln within a short time of the York visit.

It's amazing what another look at a place will do, rather than relying on the first impressions.

Poor you, Sue, sigh, just having to visit two ancient cathedral cities again!
