I very much dislike swearing and can not understand the sort of comedy where you use rude words for a woman's bits and it is considered hilarious.

However I do think children/teenages go through various phases where it is 'cool' to swear a lot then they get a bit older, realise they sound like immature idiots and grow out of it.

Youngest jumped from little boy behaviour to midde aged man behaviour in about 3 months, missing out the annoying teenager/showing off to friends phase.

The other two couldn't get their heads around it, they go off to uni after Christmas and youngest was still this very young man playing with lego, they come back and he is more mature than them concentrating on doing his portfolio, turning down a date with a very nice young lady because he wanted to study and refusing parties and days out with 'the crew', again to study or do research.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I only ever heard my dad swear once - in his final year.

Mum would swear when really annoyed, using her own little words... bumh0les was one. But she never "swore" using the F word or anything even close.

I never used to swear, but have started to in the last 15 years.... I blame society for that :)

Mum came from a working class eastend family, she could swear like a trooper as could my nan who at the age of 90, shocked all my friends with her use of the F word at an Ann Summers party I was holding.

Dad came from a middle class family who in their fairly recent history hailed also from London but the very poshest bits....they very rarely swore and I don't think I ever heard my paternal nan swear at all.

When mum got annoyed with us we were all B word child, said in a high pitched voice and usually accompanied with a chasing hand whilst we escaped up the stairs thinking we were being clever and giggling because we thought we had got one over on her. Alas it was mum being clever, she would never have used the hand but her plan was to get us upstairs and she succeeded without having to do much...our problem was that everytime we tried to sneak down the stairs again, she would come flying around the corner so up we would go again :rotfl:

I swear she had bat hearing, didn't matter how quiet we were trying to sneak down, she always heard us.....plus I don't think we were very bright, we never did learn that getting us upstairs with the minimum of effort was her ultimate goal.:D

I have good news and bad news.......

Got home to an email from the bank, stating that any plans I have are too speculative for the bank to look at them. This has countered what I've been told with 3 separate people from the same bank, plus that I'm able to show previous accounts (on a much smaller scale than planned though), plus info for where 30% cost savings will come from in scaling up.

I also had to argue the toss yesterday with a supposedly senior Business Banking manager about what, if anything, is being exported. For the moment I've won that one with the international trade people.

I suspect after some research that his scepticism could be due to someone who didn't have 7 years of contacts and experience in the sector defaulting on a rather large loan in the same area as my branch (which isn't London), however I haven't spent most of the last 2 months sitting down and compiling mountains of paperwork to not even have these seriously looked at in person.

Simmering inside, but will quietly ask for reasons in writing before reviewing anything I've overlooked and resubmitting, preferably in front of someone else. I also have another trick up my sleeve, which will be pulled out before any further contact is made.

This would have gone into a blog post with the link posted here, but I don't seem to be able to log into it to post anything (but probably will have a vent when I can). Blog is still there, just doesn't seem to be accessable to do anything with.

My boys don't swear in front of me, but they do in front of their friends, they also text acronyms for swear words. I find it amusing that they use the correct punctuation in their texts even when the words are inappropriate. (eg !!!!!!?)

I use a lot of acronyms in texting with my mother, and punctuate correctly.

I also use 'softer' swear words (the one beginning with 'f', and the one beginning with 'c' are definitely not ok) in front of her, but she's a lot more open to swearing in general than I am.

Interesting point re swearing CK. I do similar. I don't ever use the C word, only use the F word when I'm angry, or when the acronym !!!!!! explains my sense of confusion/bewilderment. I am more likely to use the b pairing of loody and ollocks in everyday language. I am also rather fond of the expression that translates as 'bat guana crazy' as it rather sums up the world we live in at the moment.

I am afraid I use the full suite of bad words quite liberally; I am still not up to Australian levels of swearing though. I am trying to moderate it around the children but finding that giving up smoking was much easier!

The boys know they have to use proper words, punctuate correctly and never ever use swear words or text speak when they send me a text.

I need a code breaker to work out what my ex mother in law or brother send me in a text, can't understand any of it. Mind you, neither can the boys and they understand text speak....

I think even that would struggle with my brother's texts.....it's not just text speak but incorrectly spelt text speak, incorrectly spelt proper words and a jumble of letters picked randomly from his brain and typed out that are meant to make a word that we are somehow meant to work out what he was trying to say.

I've no idea why, he had the same education as me, is bright and can speak another language fluently (where his spelling is perfect)

chewmylegoff Do try to be really careful about swearing in the children's hearing - you'll soon find that the words they pick up most readily are the ones you'd really rather they didn't use, at least in public :D
