I think I am weird on swearing. I certainly agree that one shouldn't use words in front of the kids (at whatever age) that we wouldn't be happy to hear them saying but it is the actual words themselves I find vulgar rather than the sentiment so I am fine with 'Sh uger' and ever 'Fork!' and have no problem with w-t-f. In other words it is the words themselves that I think are offensive rather than the meaning behind them.

    Is that strange?
    I think....

chewmylegoff Do try to be really careful about swearing in the children's hearing - you'll soon find that the words they pick up most readily are the ones you'd really rather they didn't use, at least in public :D

That's true! Some friends let a relative babysit for them and found their toddler's vocabulary, shall we say, "enriched" afterwards.

They advised the relative in future to regard the child as being not just as a little treasure, but also as a vaguely anthropoid parrot.:D

Youngest has just done his first solo train journey. Ok it was only to Ipswich and he was very anxious and eeky but he did it!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

How about a vaguely anthropoid minor bird?

    :rotfl:

Yes I know it's really minah bird, but that doesn't work so well

I have two friends with the same name, who know each other. Not a common name, let's say Rachel as example. Phone rings, kid answers phone and shouts to me, "Rachel is on the phone, it's OK it's the nice Rachel". Nice Rachel was amused.

Always be careful what you say in front of kids, I overheard a kid tell a teacher, "It's OK, Mum says your not the worst teacher in the school".

Hehe, that's why the TV comedy Outnumbered was so good. They didn't have scripts for the kids to learn, they just took them aside and discussed what the next scene was about then set the cameras up and recorded whatever the kids said - as they say, out of the mouths of babes ;)

The best I recall was when the little girl was burying the mouse "killed by mummy" and was telling God how she'd put some bread and cheese in the box so he had something to eat on the journey up to heaven, "but if he's going the other way he can have cheese on toast" ;)

:D I remember that one, it made me laugh out loud.

michaels I know exactly what you mean, and I agree.

Sue That's brilliant, well done him! :T Was he okay afterwards?

silvercar What a good thing it was the nice Rachel :D

I have good news and bad news.......

Got home to an email from the bank, stating that any plans I have are too speculative for the bank to look at them. This has countered what I've been told with 3 separate people from the same bank, plus that I'm able to show previous accounts (on a much smaller scale than planned though), plus info for where 30% cost savings will come from in scaling up.

I also had to argue the toss yesterday with a supposedly senior Business Banking manager about what, if anything, is being exported. For the moment I've won that one with the international trade people.

I suspect after some research that his scepticism could be due to someone who didn't have 7 years of contacts and experience in the sector defaulting on a rather large loan in the same area as my branch (which isn't London), however I haven't spent most of the last 2 months sitting down and compiling mountains of paperwork to not even have these seriously looked at in person.

Simmering inside, but will quietly ask for reasons in writing before reviewing anything I've overlooked and resubmitting, preferably in front of someone else. I also have another trick up my sleeve, which will be pulled out before any further contact is made.

This would have gone into a blog post with the link posted here, but I don't seem to be able to log into it to post anything (but probably will have a vent when I can). Blog is still there, just doesn't seem to be accessable to do anything with.

I can see the bad news, but I struggle to see the good news. I certainly sympathise with you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I haven't laughed for days, but that made me hoot! Thank you, Zagubov!

I shall refer to all toddlers, henceforth, as vaguely anthropoid parrots! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ivyleaf - he was ok as he was met at the other end by friends. That line is very familiar to him anyway as I have spent the last 5 or so years (probably longer!) doing train training with him in prep for him either working or going to uni....appears to have paid off!

The real test will be for him to do a more involved journey which involves changing trains, something he will have to do where ever he goes to uni.

However, he has gone one better than Josh, he still isn't ok on solo train trips, even on our short train trip to Ipswich.
