Pity about the description, she's a good looking little 'un0 -
To be fair, when we were having the Scottish Referendum, I was massively surprised that it could be won by a majority of one vote. It seems to me that such a stupendously important decision should not rest on such a small margin. I was similarly worried about our recent stupendous event.
As has been said before, voting in a political party for five years is a weeny bit different from splitting from the UK or splitting from the EU.
I'm much the same.
What does concern me is that the majority of people that voted out were older (which is fair enough), but they're also the ones who won't use what the EU has to offer as much.
A 1.2% margin is far too small to base a final decision on, especially as Farage et al would have kicked up a huge fuss if it was 1.2% the other way around.💙💛 💔0 -
Incidentally CK, I've posted elsewhere that Herts voted out but very marginally... 3000 votes in it, about 0.5% of the total count. Most places were very marginally out, except St Albans and North Herts (in) and Stevenage and Broxbourne (out), which were the biggest swings each way. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? My district was closer than that, but still a marginal out vote.
I still don't feel at home in the UK now, and that's extremely worrying. I've already been told that I'll be welcomed with open arms in the country I've thought about.💙💛 💔0 -
Well, those old films made me cry
It didn't help that I was googling and found the Aberfan/1966 stuff while waiting for the old films to start.... I can still remember it being in the Sunday papers at the time.0 -

Did you know the people of Aberfan were robbed by the Govt of the time?
It was quite a scandal. The villagers had to pay £150,000 to clear the slagheap that killed all the children. The Govt didn't repay that until 40 years later and then only the £150k, not the equivalent value.
Rather than try to explain, here's a link that covers it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberfan_disaster if you search for £150,000 on that page.0 -
