Clever, focused, manipulative. I think him charismatic and a populist. An egocentric player, visionary in pursuit of his personal place in history.

The tape playing in his head is scripted like this:

    Front leave campaign.
increase popular profile across political divide.
In event of Brexit, replace Cameron.
As pm negotiate exit terms/issues with EU
hold second referendum on "new improved EU terms for staying in"
    Advocate stayng in.
Heroically saves UK from Eu exit sliding economic and political position.
    Firefighting the problem he creates.

Continues to dress/behave in Just William kind of way.

Until this campaign I had liked him, still think he has great leadership qualities coupled with dysfunctional effects of being a legend in his own mind.

:T :T My thoughts exactly, way before Thursday. With one proviso, though..... I don't actually think he thought Leave would win, but was using the platform solely to further his ambitions. I think he was shocked to the core by the result and by the enormity of what he had helped to bring about.
He hasn't the experience or the ability to front Britain during this crisis, IMO.
The short-term self-serving actions of politicians on all sides during the last couple of years has proved to be monstrous.
The Kraken has been well and truly woken.

It upset my mum when we were talking about it today, she sees it as not having pride in the country and couldn't quite understand how important freedom of movement was to the boys and kept saying that a restriction would not apply when we do leave, that they wouldn't do that.
I think this is what is so sad; it does appear that so many people simply didn't realise just how much would change by not being in the EU. One woman said that she hadn't thought that Scotland could leave Britain as a result, and didn't want that. Someone else hadn't realised that EU subsidies would stop.
For that, the blame does fall fair and square on the Government, and to some extent on the other parties, too. For the last two years, we've heard almost all negative things about the EU, and very, very little about the positives.

Very true. Are cat treats safe for dogs? They're cheaper and my dog loves them (and this is MSE).;)

Have a look at the ingredients; if they are the same barring flavourings, the chances are that they are ok. Best to check with a vet, though, as sometimes the most innocuous things, as I'm sure you know, (like chocolate), can be very bad for dogs. On balance though, dogs are much more omnivorous than cats.
This, https://www.vetinfo.com/should-you-use-cat-treats-for-dogs.html basically says that a small amount won't hurt, but don't overdo it.

If "people didn't realise" then you can lay a lot of that at the feet of the parties because when political types "campaign" they never answer questions, never lay stuff out in lists ... they simply smile, shake hands and shmooze various groups with photo-shoots at an assortment of locations and business premises.

Even any televised "debates" are simply a wild and confusing shout-fest.

It's nigh on impossible for most to get to grips with who is who, what's on offer, to be able to "choose".

Indeed, even having politicians doing it, it was confusing for people as it looked like they were voting for one party or another and not a bigger issue.

These things are fine/understandable for those with a daily/keen interest in politics, the sort of people who discuss politics with family/friends, but if you're not in those groups then you're all at sea really.

Who are all these people? What's going on? Ah, a question.... er, what WAS the answer?

You've an ever-changing list of staff in the Govt, people you've never heard of, hundreds of them - and in any interviews etc they'll mention names of people you don't know at all as part of their 'answer' and you're more lost than when you started.

Yup. I feel a lot can be learned from this. Number one being that, in a social media age, pulling the wool will no longer wash.

He is not one of my contacts, he was posting on someone else who I am friends with, wall.
I'd be tempted to delete them too, if they didn't delete him! :o

I'll delete this, I just just to vent...

The guy I wanted to delete must be getting everything I do popping up on his feed as he's started replying to my posts, whining about people. He started whinging about the bad things that have happened to him. (He bought a flat in London with his gf in the 80s boom, she left him, she stayed on the mortgage even though he paid it and he wouldn't sell it despite everyone telling him to. Lived in it for 25 years, didn't renovate it to it to spite her). He sold it about 3 years ago. Clearly it was worth a lot more than it was, she got half, but it should have been worth more. It was horrid in the late 90s. He just continuously punished himself to punish her. Except she lived her life normally and just cashed in. Harsh, but he could have done something about it at any time.

Now, he was complaining about this 20 years ago when we were friends; bear in mind I'd never met his ex girlfriend at the time! He has no intention of fixing himself at all. I'd rather live in hell than in his head, the amount of torment he is in. Literal torment with the language he uses about her and other people. Never ever helped himself. At the time we were friends, I was 18-22. I had nothing then, obviously.

I feel guilty about dropping him, hence I'm posting fairly random and irrelevant stuff on here about it.

Party last night for my ex mother in law - ex hubby, ex best friend now wife of ex hubby, ex hubby's mother in law and me, all in the same room.

There was no blood on the walls by the end of the night, in fact, we all got on like a house on fire....his new mother in law is such a sweetie.

Yep, I think I have got over the marriage/divorce saga and moved on, not even one pang of what could have been, me and the boys are celebrating what has gone on afterwards, something that probably would not have happened if we had stayed married.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I was very impressed with Ruth Davidson during the EU debate on tv last week, I have to admit that I had not even heard of her before, but I have put that down to my ignorance. Apparently she has ruled herself out of the PM candidacy, which I thought was a shame. But maybe I just caught her on a good day?

On facebook you can "unfollow" people. Click the little down arrow next to a post they make and pick the option to unfollow.

You remain as Facebook "friends" and they are none the wiser that their rantings do not appear on your timeline.

If my brother carries on with his rantings, I may well be forced to unfollow him!

He greeted us yesterday cheering like a football hooligan saying "We won, you lost, hahahahahaha, we won over you traitors!". Ok he was winding us up a tiny bit but it did not go down well with youngest who was already royally peed off with the result (it is not a joking matter to him). I sometimes wonder how we could have turned out so differently, we both had the same education and upbringing but our views couldn't be more different and not just on the EU issue.
