Letter from Santander today - mortgage is due to end in August 2037. So I'll have just turned 50 at that point. Need to try and get rid of another 8/10 years somehow. At the moment I think a £500 overpayment takes off 2 months of the life of the mortgage.
I'm trying not to think about how many £500 payments I'll need to make in order to reach that though.
Very much looking forward to tomorrow night - football starts! Woohoo!
Also, a week on Saturday I'm on holiday for a week in Devon. Marvellous!

The month of June has not been great. We lost Skip and now a close family friend is going to have life support removed tomorrow. He had a massive heart attack and cardiac arrest on Monday night (hubby's birthday) and he's been on a ventilator since. He is the father of one of my bridesmaids and we are all a very close knit group. They're more family than some of our own blood kin.
They've established severe brain damage and the family have agreed to remove life support tomorrow so that his organs can be donated (his wish and theirs). It's been a horrible week.

I'll update about finances another time.

Right I've gone fairly off finance the last little while because life has been throwing us lemons. Anyway I've not been having a bad time financially.

I managed to make another £500 overpayment at the start of June which took another 2 months off the term. I'm somehow managed to save £375.54 in the last 33 days. That does include 2 months of interest payments and a very lovely £63 from T0pcashback so fingers crossed I can make another one this month.
I'll be updating my FIT mortgage challenge at the end of the month so hopefully will have knocked off another £500 there.
So my mortgage currently stands at £96,982.67, my daily interest is £8.48 and my LTV (based on house @ £155K which we think is about £15-20K lower than actual but it's what the mortgage is based on) is 62.57%.
So, it's looking pretty good right now..
I've had a sort of promotion at my transcribing job. I'll be working some weekends as a weekend co-ordinator which will pay a certain amount per hour of my time which will hopefully been a slight increase in pay. I have to go to London on Thursday for some training so that's going to be a very long day as I have to get my first train at 6.19am and then I return home at 10pm. The train tickets only cost me £49 though so I've been very MSE with that :D

I've achieve my target of overpaying £1,000 of my mortgage this year. At the time I set that goal I didn't really have any idea of what I could reasonably achieve and when by so in hindsight it was a low target but it's always nice to hit something with some ease. I'm not going to change the target so to speak but I would like to overpay another £1500 this year. I think that's doable.

Have completely lost track of how much I am TT'ing but I'm sure I can go back through my bank statements and figure it out. Just not going to do that right now, but that is part of the £375 I have accumulated in the past month.

And the sort of promotion fell through...bugfer. Oh well these things happen. Possibility of a weekend proofreading role instead so will be having a look at the training for that tomorrow. Least I'm getting my travel expenses reimbursed so not out of pocket.

Only £80 until my next £500 overpayment. Have until the 24th of July I think to pay it so I can update my MFiT report for the quarter. Pretty sure I'll just bung the £80 across and be done with it. Might do that tomorrow and then penny pinch until payday lol.

Good news on the weight loss front. I've now lost 1st and 1lb, which is also 10% of my original body weight. I'm now 4lb away from my goal weight and I've really noticed a difference in my figure in the last 2 weeks. Just need to keep my eye on the ball for a. It longer but may reach goal by my birthday (2/8).
Speaking of which 3 weeks tomorrow I get my new tattoo! Eek so excited. Hubby is paying for it as my birthday present. I'm getting another cat on my leg. I'll try and put up a link to an image of my first tattoo in case anyone is interested.

In other news and in a bit of an anti-MSE hubby and I have booked our mini break away for October. Originally we were intending to go to a nice cottage in the Cotswolds but somehow we've ended up booking 4 nights in a 4* star hotel in Madrid. :rotfl:
Hubby mentioned he'd like to go somewhere warm and had apparently been looking at cheap flights for that week. I'm totally onboard going to Spain - always wanted to go there so I did not argue. Flights were very cheap and got £7.35 CB for them. Hotel not so cheap - about £750 for 4 nights but hubby is quite particular and likes quality but got £80 CB with that as well so not too bad.
Really looking forward to Madrid! Then we get to adopt another cat!!!

Yes, I am obsessed with cats in case you're just catching on :D

Well done on the o/p:T I too, had no idea as what I would be able to achieve as far as o/p and like you have really surprised myself, just thought, there would be no way possible to o/p my limit of 10% (my target) and here I am with less than 2 months o/p to be paid to meet my target.

Sounds like a lovely break you have booked. Just remember, you have to live along the MFW road, its not all about o/p, just being careful ( or as they say here, buy a pram ;):D) for the other 99% of the time.

Thanks AFK - that's what I'm figuring. Yes, I want to become MF but with the money that hubby's dad gifted us it's allowing us the opportunity to go on these breaks and enjoy ourselves. We don't intend to have children and so we have the freedom to go and do these little trips away. This year alone it will have been 4 nights in Zagreb, a week in Devon and 4 nights in Madrid. If you'd said that to me last year I would have laughed, especially as I only work 18.5 hours a week (and there's my freelance work).

ETE - I think it's always good to have things to look forward to. It helps get one through the day to day drudgery. Currently I'm more excited about my tattoo than Madrid but then again that's closer :D

It is wonderful, I'm sure you'll love it. The Prado is great of you like art, Reina Sofia for more modern and Bernabeu for Real Madrid tour - but it's also a great place to just wander round :).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
