Did an 8 mile long slow run today for my half marathon training. It's going well. 8 weeks until race day, 2 weeks until a 10 mile race I've signed up for and I feel as if I'm prepared and ready for it - well both of them actually. Thing I've pulled a muscle on the inside of my right thigh but I've got a sports massage tomorrow which will do me the world of good and I'm cutting back on mileage this week after 3 weeks of steadily increasing mileage.

Paid off one of my credit cards - the one that isn't 0%. My regular saver matured so I used that to pay off my half of the holiday later in the year. Still got £680 left to pay off on the other one so will keep chipping away. Now I'm earning a bit more hopefully it'll be more of a hack than a chip. I had about £38 left after paying off CC1 so that's gone straight to the mortgage O/P fund - got nearly £50 again now.

Reading the Diary of Anne Frank. My uncle gave it to me about 20 years ago when I was a child and I remember reading it but didn't really get it and pretty sure I never finished it. Based on the state of the world right now I thought it would be a good thing to read. It's very interesting and also heartbreaking - she was just a normal 13 year old girl with all the emotional issues most teenagers have but in the middle of an extraordinary period of history where she just happened to be on the "wrong" side.

Successfully had my 2 fillings done - only cried a little bit but that was just panic before he did the local. It wasn't as bad as I thought and I'm confident I could do it again.

Running mileage is steadily increasing. 10 mile race last week done in 2:05:59 on an undulating course. Another 10 miles today which I was hopi g to do closer to 2 hours however my husband gave me his cold last week so I've still got a little bit lingering around and just couldn't quite settle into it - finished in 2:13:16 and ended up hugging a lamppost :rotfl:

Had a week off work (wasn't a great week to be fair, didn't sleep well for the whole week) but I did list a load of sewing patterns and fabric that I'm just not going to use on the bay. I've sold 4 items as if today and have £25.17 sitting in my Paypal account. Received my £125 switching bonus from FD and it's payday tomorrow!!! Having worked a full month at 33 hours per week payday is rather kind to me and I've got more coming from my second job a week later. Without having to spend £170 at the dentists this month I should be rather flush, although I will still need to be sensible. I entered the Loch Ness marathon in September and had to book my flights and put that on the 0% CC so that's now got £800 on it. That blasted card just never seems to go down ;) lol

So hopefully this month shall be good financially with money going towards mortgage, credit card and savings!

Made a £200 payment to the 0% credit card which has appeased my conscience somewhat. Must stop entering races and booking hotel rooms and travel costs! Although I think if I enter anything else it'll be local or daily travel distance, not requiring an overnight stay (I can't commit to this promise by the way!).

Good job on the running and the overpayments. I've started running myself this year but I'm only at 5k distance so I've got a long way to go until I can entertain 10 mile races!

I remember when a 5K was a long way for me. Being consistent and gradually increasing distance ce is the absolute key to getting faster, going further and staying injury free.

Mortgage as of today is now £92,719.41, which is pleasantly close to the £90K mark. Hopefully a £500 O/P in the next 4-6 weeks. Already got £271 in the OP account so more than halfway to the next payment. However, still got a while to next pay day and need to make what I've got last

Wow, it's been a looooooong time again. I'll try and give you an update of what's happened since March:
*completed my first half marathon in Liverpool in April in 2hrs 33m 52 seconds!
*got a tattoo to commemorate my half marathon
*signed up for a full marathon - Loch Ness on 24th September
*went full-time at work from June
*didn't get paid full time for June so expecting the full-time salary + what I was missing for the end of July
*my 30th birthday is 18 days away
*going out for a nice meal with friends from work to celebrate before going away to Devon for a week with the hubby
*completed another 2 half marathons one week after the other. Potters Arf in Stoke in 2hrs 48 (very hilly) and then Shrewsbury half when it was the hottest day of the year and 29degrees 3hrs 21 (very hilly, very hot, A LOT of walking)
*felt that my running isn't going very well and I just keep getting slower and rubbish
*have a totally abysmal run last Sunday and couldn't even manage 2.5 miles
*husband tells me that the current tenants want to buy his rental property
*husband provisionally agrees to sell to them for £150K
*i suggest to hubby we pay off our mortgage with the money and invest what's leftover
    *hubby agrees
*i'm now impatiently waiting for them to buy the house and for us to pay off the mortgage (this only started 2 weeks ago so i know it could be a while before they get the money from probate)
*i've started wearing contact lenses and they're awesome
*mortgage overpayments have slowed down a bit but I suppose part of that is because we might pay the whole thing off so I might just keep saving and see what happens
*my grandad died 2 days ago very suddenly and unexpectedly from a massive stroke and I feel very sad and lost right now

So, in a nutshell that's the last 4 months
  • Good to hear from you MrsP. It has been a very eventful few months for you!

Congratulations on completing all those half marathons and sorry to hear your sad news about your grandad.

Just a few more months and you could be MF, amazing :D

    Wow, totally forgot about this!
In the end, the sitting tenants didn’t buy the property but someone else did and I believe the tenants are still in there even now.
We did pay our mortgage off and so I have been mortgage free for about 18 months now!!
How do I get my badge? Lol
