Oof, feel like I dropped off a cliff. Haven't beer here for a while.
    Just made my 2nd mortgage overpayment :T :T :T
    Really happy.
Hmm, iPad screen is being annoying and the touchscreen isn't very responsive. Think it's a new screen protector I've bought...back later

    I don't think it's looking good for Skip I'm afraid :(:(:(
She's not gaining weight even though hubby is syringe feeding her and tonight I've come upstairs to a massive accident on the bed. I don't think she's in full control of her body anymore. She's lethargic and all she does is sleep on the bed, she rarely gets up and comes downstairs and interacts with us. If we hadn't blocked off underneath the bed I think she'd have been hiding under there for the last few weeks and I think she's in pain. Hubby isn't so sure she's in pain but it's just a feeling I have.
So, I told hubby we need to go back the vets tomorrow. He said he wasn't sure what else they could do and I replied saying that I don't think there's much more that can be done. I did ask and made sure that I wasn't forcing him into this decision, if it's what the vet agrees with, and he said no, but he thought she might have a little longer. I just think she's not got any quality of life and if she is in pain it's just not at all fair on her.
So, we shall see. I'll keep you posted but I don't think she's going to rebound...

So we took Skip to the vets this morning and she crossed the rainbow bridge. The vet agreed that it was time - she said that she wouldn't try and change our minds and even though she hadn't seen Skip before having read her notes she could see that she'd been in a number of times over the last 8 weeks or so and hadn't been responding to treatments or improving. She was dehydrated again and it seemed cruel to just keep trying to treat the symptoms as opposed to the cause - whatever that may have been. Hubby didn't see the point in going forward with imaging to try and find the reason as he didn't think she would make it that long for treatment and if she did the treatment probably wouldn't have added much on to her life. Certainly not the short-term quality of it.
It all happened very fast and very peacefully and at least she's not in pain anymore. Hubby and I had a good cry and my best friend's mum works on the reception and came in and gave us a good hug, which was comforting.
I made a joke about getting a new kitten (I'm always asking for another cat/kitten) and hubby said that he'd actually been thinking about it and reckons after we have our weekend/short week away in October that would probably be the right time as we wouldn't be going anywhere for a period of time and the cat could settle in properly. I even said he could choose this time.
I've stopped crying now but it is a little hard and still emotional looking at her photos. I'm trying to remember her as she was before she got ill and not the recent weeks of her being skinny and tired. She was such a good girl. Best miniature snow leopard ever xxxxx

It's been a bit easier today. I'm sad but not morose. I think that makes sense.

Now waiting for Santander to pay me my interest so I can return my overpayment pot to a healthy position again.
