Holy fudging crapola! That was such a challenge. Probably shouldn't have done it with a cold 4 days after 5 miles. Physically it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I came last in 01:42:28 but I walked a lot of it. I'm not doing cross country again. So tired, the ground just sapped my strength from my legs and it was very muddy in places so couldn't really run through it.
So happy I did it though. I pushed the boat out, challenged myself and didn't give up.
But seriously never again!0 -
First weigh in at slimming world tonight and I lost 2lbs! Very very happy!
Not much to say on the financial front but I will be doing some stuff in the coming week. Need to open a new account but still undecided about that.0 -
Well done for completing the cross country and for the weight loss.0

After the cross country my cold/cough made me feel like doing not a lot at all. Still need to figure out what to do with my extra £11K!! Really should make my mind up soon otherwise I'm going to lose out on interest. *sigh* I seem to be getting side-tracked a lot and not making my way up to my computer as much recently.
Good news is I lost another 2lb at SW so that's 4lb in 2 weeks. Other good news is that I've started contributing to my company pension at 5%. The bad news is that they only put my employer's contribution at 1% when I requested 6%. However, I'm not the only person this has happened to and my mum has been given the hours for finance back so she can sort it out when she goes back to work next Tuesday. We think it might be a clerical error by the boss but she'll look into it. I want my extra 5%! I only earn £765 a month so 5% makes a fair difference to me and because I had a week off this month I won't be earning as much from my audio transcription on the side. May could be a lean month...or a dip into savings month but I shall try my best to avoid that.
Currently sat at £249 with my mortgage O/P fund so I'm on the downward slide to the magic £500 and I should be getting another £40 from the hubby at the start of the month which will help a lot.0 -
Oh man I feel like such a muppet. I finally got round to applying for a second 123 account online. For some reason j inserted my income wrong - digits wrk g way round so pressed the button that send previous page (not the browser back button) but it still didn't like that. So I had to start again. Second time round it was fine - or so I thought until I got an email saying Mrs Anyon! If only gone and put my flipping maiden name as my surname!!
So now I've got to prove I am who I should be. Fingers crossed I can do it in branch and not have to post info off. What a palava!0 -
One thing I like about N@tionwide is that they pay their interest on time. It's the first of the month and whilst doing my rounds they are the only bank that has paid their interest on time. S@ntander took my mortgage payment and allocated it on time too but I imagine I will have to wait until Tuesday to get my interest from them and TSB. Shocking in this day and age of computer automisation.0

Month end update. Bit of a quiet month for me this month. Got a bit sidetracked and didn't spend a huge amount of time on the forum but hopefully I'll be on here more often this month.
I've just nipped over the halfway mark for my 2nd £500 over payment and that is now standing at £259.91. This will increase significantly in the next week once the interest payments go into my other bank accounts and hubby's £40 transfer goes in as well. So, I'll be closer to the £375 mark in a couple of days which will hopefully spur me on. Fingers crossed next payment will be made end of May/start of June.
Mortgage has been paid as usual and now stands at £98,017.52. Annoyed that only about half of my payment goes on the actual mortgage but that is the way of the world. Get to £500 and that will be 100% balance, no interest.
Opened a H&L S&S ISA and invested £100 into 10 different funds or whatever they're called. I just followed my husband's advice. Some of it is in property and some of it isn't and the stuff that isn't property isn't doing a good job and I've lost about £13. But, they're in emerging markets and Brazil who are in the pits so I've bought at the right time and if I can just think of it as a LONG-TERM investment it should be okay.
I've finally got £20 interest from my FundingCircle investments which is enough to either withdraw or re-invest. I'm not sure what to do. My instinct is to grab it and put it in my O/P account but surely it would be more sensible to re-invest and keep it growing. Any opinions welcome.
Been a quiet month like I said so my TT has only gone up my £20.87 and most of that is Save the Change where the spare pennies on a card purchase get rounded up to the pound and then shuffled over to my O/P account. But it's all growing.
Just waiting for my second 123 account to be sorted out due to my maiden name mistake and then I can transfer another nice amount into their and start reaping the rewards of extra interest. Again not sure whether to keep it in there and let it accumulate or to take it out for the mortgage.
Oh, and I've joined the company pension and am putting 5% towards that now. Now I need to find out how to transfer my Asda pension to my current work's provider. Also, there's been a mistake with the employer contributions. It looks as if everyone is set at 1% whereas some have opted for 6% but this will be sorted out when the finance lady (who also happens to be my mum) goes back to work on Tuesday. We all want our free money!
So, yes that's currently where I stand financially. On a personal level I have joined SW and in 2 weeks have lost 4lbs. I got joint SOTW last week, which was completely unexpected. I've got my next weigh-in tomorrow and I'm hoping for another 2lb. Fingers crossed.0 -
Interest has finally landed in my accounts. S123 have kindly provided me with £48.53 and with the cashback on my bills that makes it a nice £59.82 which has gone straight to O/P. Also got £8.52 or some such from TSB which has also been shuftied over. I'm now sitting at £369.70 something which is much nicer. Just need another £130 from somewhere....
Have also managed to somehow crack my ipad screen. Granted this is my hubby's ipad who have it to me when he upgraded his oh, about 4 years ago or something? So, its old and very slow and I've had the vague notion of getting a new one. So, think I might hit up J0hn Lewi$ and make use of hubby's staff discount. I have had a look at cashback sites but they're not very good and the best c/b offer was for a product £60 more expensive so it wasn't worth it.
I moved over £10,500 to my new 123 account this morning. Set up the S/O for money in and out but need to set up 2 DD. Will probably move my mobile phone DD across rather than set up a new one and then I may just need to open another. Small charitable donation or small amount to the lottery maybe. Not sure yet.
So, I did keep £500 back in case I did need to buy an ipad so it's been knocking around the old noggin without me being fully aware of it I suppose. If I've got any left over I might throw that at the mortgage as well just to make me feel better lol. It's going to be a tight month and hopefully I won't have to dip into any savings. Must stay strong in the face of shopping adversity!!0 -
Open a tesco saver account as they take money via direct debit rather than standing order. I use them for halifax rewards accounts and tesco savers are the only direct dbits and they sweep up the £5 rewards for me!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

They only pay interest up to £3000 is it? So I'd still have £7500 to shove somewhere0
