Thought I'd update my statement of account seeing as it's been about 6 months since the last one. It's still a bit vague as we don't have all our income coming out of 1 account. We've both got our own individual accounts as well as the joint billing account. I've also included my HP agreement for my new car, as technically I am paying that although I will be using some of my cash assets to pay that off in the new year.
The value of the house is actually 2 houses as hubby owns another one outright. It's currently sitting unoccupied as we're waiting to find new tenants. Hopefully not for too long!!
Again, without trawling through my bank accounts and identifying every last purpose some of this is a bit vague. I don't really know what we spend on groceries, especially as he shops for what he wants to eat or he's going to cook and I do the same. However, I shop at @ldi and he shops at w@itrose - he does work there though so it's also convenient

Ooh, I've just listed something on the bay! When I picked up the car they gave me a ceramic VW campervan money box. It was a nice token but I'll never use it so I wondered if it was worth anything. There are a few knocking about on the site but I thought, 'What the heck? Can't hurt to try,' so it's on for £13.49 which isn't the cheapest but is cheaper than most of the rest. 30 day listing for free. Let's see how it goes.
Wonder if there's anything else I can list?0 -
Got my payslip today. We've had a 1% pay rise which has been backdated to April, so an extra £40 or something. Means an extra £8 a month. Better than a slap in the face with a wet kipper.
Waiting to hear back from Legal & General about my old @sda pension so that I can transfer it into my new pension. They're taking their time which is annoying. Patience is not a virtue I possess, really.
Going out for lunch with a friend tomorrow. Popping into Nandos which I don't eat at often but know I can be okay with re staying on track with SW. Actually trying to lose a bit of weight this week to edge towards bottom end of target but I'm sure I'll try too hard and it won't guy my way
5K run tomorrow. Last one of a serries of 6 and if I complete the ra e I get a t-shirt! It's more a matter of pride as I had to quit the series 2 years ago with an injury after the 4th race. Gutted. Went out yesterday and ran 2 miles non-stop so hoping I can replicate that tomorrow and come in with a decent time (for me) and you never know, I might not finish last!0 -
Dilemma, dilemma. TCB have got a great offer for £66 CB from @viva for car insurance. Having just bought a car I did some shopping around and I know that they can insure me for £264 (which is among the cheapest I have found), so with the cashback it would be like £200. However, my insurance isn't due until 15th October and the offer ends in 4 days.
So, do I just bite the bullet and buy the insurance now for October? Or do I wait and see if there is a similar offer when it's actually renewal time?
I'm currently with direct l!ne and they're okay but not cheaper than @viva and they don't have such good cashback offers.
I'm very, very tempted.
Any opinions on this matter gratefully received!0 -
Well, I've just bought the car insurance. Sod it, I thought. I sincerely doubt I'll get a cheaper offer and it's a great cashback offer.
Also got £36 cashback last night on a hotel in Liverpool. I took the plunge and entered the Liverpool Half marathon on 2nd April next year and I'm treating myself at the same time. If I'm going to knacker myself out in such a manner I do not want to be driving up and down the motorways to get there and back and then go into work the next day. So, booked a hotel from Friday night until Monday (swish hotel too - the Titanic Hotel in Stanley Dock so it's only a mile or so from the start/finish line) and I'm going to book Monday and Tuesday off work cos I probably won't have the energy or inclination.
We also have family up in Liverpool so my uncle is going to get carer cover for my grandma and come join us, my other uncle has offered to show me some proper Liverpool boozers (no sipping and no sherry allowed apparently), my mum is now looking at hotels to come support me and meet up with her brothers and a family friend who lives in Liverpool may also come and cheer me on.
It looks like a nice course and is mostly flat bar an incline in the first 2 miles. The final stretch is about 4 miles back along the promenade past the docks heading back to Pier Head.
Training will officially begin on 18th December - intend to follow a 16 week training plan. I have a 10K race on 26th September and another on the 11th December. Might try and keep my eye out for something at the end of Feb/start of March but I could just do a longer long run. I think my longest will be 12 miles.
I did a 5K race on Wednesday and did it non-stop running. I was so chuffed - haven't managed to do that in about 2 years. I've decreased my pace so that I can further for longer and it seems to be working. Feeling pretty good with the running right now!
I'm only £10 away from my next mortgage overpayment which has put a smile on my face and I'e just dropped into the £95K bracket as well which is awesome! So another £500 will drop off again this week,
Going car shopping with my Dad tomorrow - for him not for me this time
Have a good weekend all - I'm off to watch Masterchef Australia0 -
Ahh...Masterchef. Have you watched Masterchef USA? I was addicted at one pointMortgage - £105,5000
-
I haven't. I did watch Masterchef Canada and South Africa. I find the North American ones to be too brash. There's just something about the Australian version that is the best out there in my opinion.
I love the way the challenges are structured and the way you see the people develop.
I am totally addicted to the Oz version and it's on 5 days a week0 -
That's another £500 safely dispatched to the mortgage leaving me with a balance of £95,440.35 and a term of 20 years and 8 months I think. The bloke on the phone asked if this was something I do regularly - he must have noticed I've done this 3 times already so he's sending me a form to fill in and send back so that I can pay online into their account using my account number as a reference number and then they'll automatically apply it to my mortgage account and reduce the term and capital. Some good customer service today!
Hubby has been signed off of 3 weeks with lumbago and sciatica. Basically he's got a herniated disc pinching a nerve from all the heavy lifting and hard work he does on the fruit and veg department at w@itrose. I'm kind of jealous but to be fair I'd just sit around the house and do !!!!!! all. He's cleaning things, tidying up, doing little DIY jobs around the house. I told him if he kept this up we should see about getting a free valuation for the house :rotfl: He's just waiting for some of the pain to subside so he can get back on his bike. He's had the all clear from the Dr as it won't cause vertical compression of his spine. His blood pressure was high though (hubby is blaming it on the double espresso he had half an hour before his appt) but the Dr still wants to get it checked out so he has to have a 24-hour blood pressure monitor next week. I just laughed and called him my grumpy old man. Hubby also mentioned about maybe getting a vasectomy - Dr seemed okay with that until he found out I was 29 and we had no children. So,t hat's going to have to wait a couple more years at least. Why are they so resistant to letting a woman decide that she doesn't want children?!?
Anyway, we went to Shrewsbury to get some DIY stuff from b and q and I had the idea of popping into the RSPCA place but they're closed on a Wednesday. I may not be broody for babies but oh my god am I broody for more cats! We were going to wait until we got back from Madrid in 4 weeks but I thought we could go and look and maybe put a reserve on one (or two) if we find the right one/s. So hubby has agreed that we can go on Sunday. I'm a hopeless case, totally hopeless and just can't hold up against the purring balls of fluff.0 -
My mum is waiting, waiting, waiting for my sister (who got married last year) to announce she's having a baby
Well she did make an announcement a few weeks ago...that her name was down to buy two kittens when they are born. Mum was not impressed one bit
Mortgage - £105,5000 -
That's my kind of announcement!!0
