Farting is a natural bodily function as is defaecating, neither are pleasant enough to want to share them with others but what surprises me more is all those who say they can't help it.
Don't most people have some control over their bowels and can wait to pass wind or use the toilet? What do they do if they are at work ...or parents evening?

Do the same people pick their noses in front of their partners?

It's like people (usually men) who let out those REALLY loud sneezes and then say they can't help it. You CAN help it. Most of us can manage a sneeze or two without it sounding like the noonday gun going off.

Exactly - if you can manage not to fart at a funeral or a job interview then you can manage not to fart in front of a partner.

These are pointless and slightly ludicrous analogies.

For a start, like when people need a poo; people usually let rip when they are at their most relaxed, and at home... So yes, you ARE less likely to fart in front of your kid's teacher or the vicar, or at a job interview....

Surely people should be entitled to fart in their own HOME !!!!!!. You should be able fart in front of your life partner FGS. If such a basic human function cannot be executed in front of your husband or wife, then I do wonder what kind of relationship that couple have, and what other things they dare not do in front of them.

What's more, I let rip in public occasionally, I just cough so no-one can hear. Or I will do it in a noisy place. If you can't fart in public, and you can't fart at home in front of your partner, when in the hell are you SUPPOSED to fart?!

I am with you on this though. My husband - and my brother, let out such ridiculously loud sneezes, and it's obviously put on. I wonder sometimes if they do it for a reaction, or for attention ... When my husband sneezes (super-loudly) he looks over to see my expression. I am convinced he doesn't sneeze like this at work.

Then again, you can control stupidly loud sneezes; (especially as they're often put on,) but you cannot control when you need to fart.

Still trying to fathom what kind of relationship someone has if they don't feel comfortable enough with their partner to fart in front of them.

It's not a relationship I would like to be in.

Well as has been discussed previously, each to their own. Personally I couldn't stand to be in a relationship with a lack of basic manners and respect.

Yeah whatever....... Except it's utter nonsense that farting in front of your partner shows a lack of respect. ;)

Doesn't show manners. I'd be mortified. We know it happens but it doesn't or shouldn't be done in front of each other. It's killing the love or romance imo.

It's utter nonsense that you can't accept that other people have different (and perfectly valid) opinions to yours.
