Yes Rover driver, it's an out of court fee, if you go to court it can cost £1000.
I and the guy from the wheel clamping dept. We're starting to think it might be a scam, but all the payment details and address seem correct for Dvla.

I've also started an official complaint with them via the website, they give themselves 2 weeks to respond.

So from 8/2014 - 3/2015 the vehicle averaged 107miles per week
    & then 3/2015 - 5/2015 it has averaged (816/11) 74miles per week

You state that Swansea is 232miles each way, so 464miles round trip
So the DVLA could claim that that is possible, if he hadn't used the car much after 3/2015

    But!
Have they given the date it was spotted in Swansea & impounded
& the date it was released ?

Can you show that he (& others with access to the car) were elsewhere on those dates?

Could you scan & upload the letter (blanking out the name/address)

Do you have the envelope it came in?

Edgex, yes it is possible to have 'saved' up the milage for a trip to Swansea, or we could have paid someone to turn the clock back, but we haven't, it's hard to prove you not done something I guess, but it was driven around as normal and went comuting to work, shopping etc.
The letter states the vehicle was seen in Neath Road Swansea, being used/kept on a public road.later it mentions the fine is separate to the fees paid to the agency's wheel -clamping contractors who impounded the vehicle.
I'll give scanning and uploading a go, sorry not very techy might take a while!

Don't bother uploading the letter, it won't achieve anything here, just provide a copy to the DVLA so the can comment on the validity of it.

Ok I'll leave it then, the envelopes really show it's genuine.
  • Have the DVLA said they have put all fees or demands for money on hold while the complete their investigations?

Not really Alan, just looking into it because it does not add up right from what I've told them. But im sure that the enforcement team are working away preparing the court case now, as it seems no one can talk with them, only to pay the bill. At least I've got a lot of ammo now if we go to court.
Anyone know how you claim back expenses from them?

As the DVLA prosecute in a magistrates court, it will be a case of getting a form from the court.

What expenses are you likely to claim as only solicitors can claim for preparation work.
