Why not just let the court deal with it?

You won't get a crime number for that.

The Police have just called me back, very little they can do, there not coming to check the car over so we just have to sort it out with the DVLA. Great, I'll try the MP next, im not letting it go.
Why not do as the DVLA advise and write to them explaining it all. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Easy. Write one more letter to the lowest form of life (get free proof of postage). State that it was not your car and they are to prove their case, in court if they want to. If they are thick enough to take it to court then submit your evidence at the court.

I've just emailed all I know to my MP, hoping she can get someone with some brain cells left to contact me.also sent my nasty letter to Swansea refusing to pay, that's just cost me £6.45, for recorded next day delivery. It feels like we're dealing with a dodgy clamping outfit not a government body.

recorded next day delivery letters are not signed for by the DVLA , they sign for sacks of letters , contents unknown , if it does not show up on the royal mail website with a signature , you can have a book of stamps

    Yes you will.

The police log every incident which is reported.

We got a log number, not sure if that's the same thing as a crime number though.

Are you sure someone is telling the whole truth here.
Time for a sit down and conversation about the automatic prison sentences handed out for perverting the course of justice.
    Get this straight first.
You must be 100% sure you are getting told the truth.
