Finally got my letter this week, just called them and after rejecting a few offers got offered:

1 month rolling - 8gb data, UL txts, UL mins, £16 per month.
  • I'm out of contract on the one plan so just rolling monthly and I had this txt from three yesterday but haven't had any letter yet:
Hi, we recently let you know your plan was changing on 24/03/2016. for more info & your other options please check Three.co.uk/NEW_PLANS

This is the first they've contacted me about this, no email, txts, or letters before this.

Obviously I'm going to have to change onto a different deal or operator soon.

However what about the fact they've not given me proper notice? Am I right in thinking they have to give 30 days notice before making any change to T&Cs and if they did change me onto a different plan on the 24/03 that would that be a breach of contract?

If so I'm hoping this will give me some extra levarage when negotiating a new plan.

I called them 3 times today trying to get the deal for unlimited every thing for £20 but they would not budge...Well done for those who got it.....and they kept lying to me saying no one got that deal and obviously they hammered all offers from their rivals including the 20 GB deal from vodafone
    Don't give up!!

I was on the One Plan a while ago but changed to PAYG and then to the 200 mins plan and now to the 600 mins.

Rang them yesterday for a better offer than 600 mins, unlim texts and data (4GB tethering) for £20 and got nowhere.

Rang them today and said that I know "friends" (OK, people on the Internet :p) have been getting unlim everything (12GB tethering) for £20. Put me on hold for a minute, came back and said that I can have that offer.

You just have to keep trying your luck as some will say yes while others won't and it's certainly not just for One Plan customers otherwise I wouldn't have it.

    There's no "extra leverage" involved.

They'll just offer you an immediate penalty free termination, Three have become the scum of the mobile world with their treatment of customers over the last 12 months or so.

At best you will be offered a £20 AYCE (with a limited hotspot/tethering allowance) plan, at worst you'll get a standard plan as per the website.

I tried again today and they denied again that they do unlimited every thing for £20 which is really frustrating. I asked for the complaint dep..I was transferred and the best they could do was unlimited every thing for £22 on monthly contract but I did not take it...I was paying £15 for that only a month ago!!!

Anyone being offered a "deal" with Three double check your new allowance when the new plan starts. It appears Three have been putting people on tariffs with a lower hotspot allowance that expected i.e. 4GB rather 12GB.

Apparently people were not made aware of this difference during their discussions with Three about moving to a new plan which appears actually appear to be "old" plans not offered on Three's web store.

I rang 0333 300 3333, option 1, enter phone number, option 3, option 2 and spoke with an Anthony. He put me on hold for a minute after explaining to him what I wanted and what others have had and he got it done without me having to push him into doing it.

Worth trying your luck with different people.

Been online and on the phone to double check and I have seen (and been told) that my package is unlimited everything with 12GB of tethering.

    ...

So when I spoke to them they had already arranged to move me to the "one plan equivalent" £30/month plan "as stated in the letter". After lots of going round in circles I finally got it through to them that I hadn't received that letter.

I got the advisor to agree with me that this would therefore be a breach of the 30 days notice T&C, but she said there was nothing she could do and it was too close to the billing date to change so any upgrade I agreed would only start from the following month, leaving me paying £30 next month.

After lost of complaining the best she said she could do was:
£18/1 month AYCE mins & txts, 8Gb data.
    which I agreed to.

I also then got put through through to customer services, explained I was going to have to report them to OFCOM for breach of contract if they went ahead with the change to £30 for next month due to less than 30 days notice, and they very quickly agreed to credit the difference of £15 to my account as a "good-will" gesture. I probably could have taken this further and got more if I'd pushed but I just wanted to ensure they didn't unfairly increase my monthly payment above £15 without sufficient notice.

So in summary if anyone else didn't receive the letter and therefore had less than 30 days notice of the change don't let them get away with it and threaten to report to OFCOM.

EE have an interesting web only SIM deal that runs until 14th April, it's for unlimited calls and texts with 16 GB of data for £19.99/month on a 12 month contract. I guess the 16 GB can be used for tethering too. It also includes calls and texts while roaming in the EU (although it doesn't mention data roaming).

That's one to haggle with Three over...

I remained with Three and went with 12 GB of data and 600 mins for £22/month on a 12 month contract (standard SIM deal). I got 2000 Three to Three mins included for no extra cost without needing to haggle much.

For me the feel at home is worth while as myself and my OH visit Spain quite a lot (monthly at times) and benefit from being able to roam fairly freely and use data there (although it's often only a trickle).

I saw the same deal listed on HotUKDeals and I think the comments there said that data roaming isn't included. Other than that it looks like a great deal for those wanting to leave three.

I agree. As much as three have annoyed me I was happy to take a £3/month price rise to keep data roaming. Plus still being on a 1 month contact I can always leave if a better deal comes up elsewhere.
