Letter from 3 - end of an amazing deal...

Options
Hi

For years I have been with 3 on the £15 a month deal includes unlimited everything, its the deal they pulled maybe 3 or 4 years ago.

However today they have written to me to say that plan is getting phased out and the most similar one they can put me on is £30 a month! So it doubles overnight!

Obviously I am going to call Retentions but wonder who else had got this letter and what deal you got after speaking to them?

Thanks

  • I got the same letter today. I think I'm going to go to GiffGaff's "always on" data plan.

    Do you need everything unlimited?
You need to check your usage and choose the plan suit you.

If you were on the one plan it wasn't actually unlimited everything (it was 2000 minutes, 5000 3-3 minutes and 5000 texts and unlimited data ), unfortunately all retention will offer you is any current sim only plan.

Feel at Home will still work with a PAYG SIM card...

  • I mentioned it in the 3 retentions deals thread earlier, appears it's the final mass clearout of customers still on the tariff. Going from £15 to £30 for less does seem like a mickey take though. Clearly they will have had a lot of calls from annoyed customers today, and I expect through the week, so I may delay mine. From a check on the comparison sites today my best bet looks to be EE on a 12mth sim contract with unlimited minutes/texts and 10GB internet inc tethering (vital for me) for £23.48 a month. I'll play hardball with 3, all depends whether they really care when new subscribers are, I believe, on the up.

Apparently this letter has gone out to 400,000 One Plan customers.

Spoken to them at length today and I have to chose one of the plans on the link below but they are not willing to discount for my loyalty.

That has been their attitude since they started kicking people off the one plan, over a year ago now.

They appear to have had strict instructions from their head office to only offer new plans, and no more discounts.

Me too. Currently paying £20 month unlimited data and so many minutes and texts it doesn't matter. Now automatically being transferred to £30 month which is clearly not the best deal from three's plans based on my usage history - that would be the unlimited data 200 min plan.

Do object to Three only offering the £30 plan, only offering the £3 discount on this plan - and the explicit this is not available on the phone or on line message. They obviously couldn't care less about customers.

I wish there was a way of encouraging ALL Three customers to leave them. 50% increase is a joke - putting you automatically on a more expensive plan than you need is a joke and misleading whilst encouraging you not to call them.
  • trouble is for me with the amount of data I use around 40gb a month and I use feel at home every month even at £30 a month (double what I pay now) I dont think I can get a better deal anywhere
