Apparently this letter has gone out to 400,000 One Plan customers.

Spoken to them at length today and I have to chose one of the plans on the link below but they are not willing to discount for my loyalty.

Three don't do loyalty discounts anymore. Everyone pays the same price or leave. Simple as that (and to be fair that's exactly how it should be)...
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Hi, the last statement is not true in all cases. Last week I requested my PAC to leave 3 and was eventually offered a sim deal with an £8 loyalty discount.

In this case however the OP uses 40gb/month so they probably realise they have got him by the balls and are happy to lose someone who has excessive data use.

I was in this last batch too :-(

I use around 8-10GB/month though minimal calls so the £20 plan is probably the best, but I am slightly annoyed they don't also offer that without the 12m commitment/£3 extra charge.

As to alternatives? Vodafone I can effectively get cheap (corp discount+spotify) but I have a distrust of them over good data... O2 I think is nowhere, whilst EE seems to have a solid network but pricing on large data plans is high. I'm thinking a > 10GB plan, probably 20.. Then there's BT mobile. Good price but lose some EE extras like wifi calling & no tethering. Poo!

So the highest probability is I'll stay with 3...........

I would suspect they can't process all 400k letters in a day or 2, the process has begun though and all the letters will probably be posted out over a week or 2.

I think all the networks are realising people using more and more whatsapp, viber etc for calling and also they need to make money from the 4g auction prices they paid a few years back. Sadly, data has ended the way we know it :(

If EE dont offer me a good sub-£15 deal for 4-6Gb then Im off back to Three, although for slightly more :(

I received my letter today, my minimum term on the 12 month sim only One Plan finished at the end of August 2014.

I gave them a call to complain, explaining that I wasn't happy that they were planing to increase my charge from £15 to £30 per month.

I got the usual sales push from the Retention's agent, he continued to offer plans available to new customers, suggesting that the £16 monthly tariff would suit me fine. I wasn't buying it and pushed for my PAC. He agreed to issue my PAC and then, out of the blue, he said there was something else he could offer........ He offered the £21 monthly deal discounted to £14 over the 12 month term, unlimited minutes and texts plus 4Gb data with tethering! It suits my usage perfectly so I agreed. I didn't particularly want to change networks as I have the 3 home signal box which gives me a perfect indoor signal, the signal on all networks is pretty poor where I am.

All in, not a bad result for 10 minute call ;) It looks like deals are still available.
