    - the only men I know who think like that hit puberty before 1980- and as the OP hangs out with his mate's Mum to gossip-and his mate lives at home -I sincerely hope he isn't nearly 50 !!

you obviously don't mix with under 50 men very often!

My cretinous ex is disgusting and expected exactly what was written there and started puberty mid-80's, you have no idea the crap I put up with for 20 years of stupidity.. and my brother at 26 seems very much the same.. he at least realises its not sustainable and is waking up to the fact someone who does more than watch tv is a bonus!! There are still heck of a lot with these Victorian ideas of 'wife material'

Sadly I know you're right pigpen but fortunately not from personal experience.

Most of the young men I've met who expect to be waited on hand and foot are the result of their upbringing: mothers who are prepared to do it for them so they expect the same from their own relationship.

However, very often the men are the 'breadwinner' types who seem to think that because they go to work and earn a wage then that's enough everything else is left to 'her indoors'. I know young women who even seem to like it. It's as if they've entered into a sort of pact. They accept the finance and the fact they may not have to cope with a demanding job outside the home and the 'waiting hand and foot' comes with the territory. Isn't that what the terms 'domestic goddess' and yummy mummy' really mean?

That's also down to feminism of the negative kind that wants to stip away a mans masculinity.

Men should be men, it's how nature intended. The young ''men'' of today are clueless and wet

Yes nothing worse than a man who is happy his woman is his equal, knows where the washing machine and dish washer are and how to use them and not only can cook but does at least 50% . My young man as you appear to think he must be works what you'd no doubt call a mans job so is consequently build like a brick ......er building, treats me like a princess yet still respects me as an equal ........and he's 53 years old.......... Feel free to rock up here and tell him he's clueless and wet though and I'll scrape you up off the floor afterwards.

Not everyone is a stereotype lol

Oh yes, it's awful that I'm the breadwinner and he'll be the stay at home parent, isn't it?!

I'll be sure to remind him how much YOU dislike his choice, but I think he'll be too busy enjoying time with his child to give a hoot.

Not what I meant, but please carry on rambling :rotfl:

I am i huge supporter of equality for women as I have said in many previous posts.

What I don't agree with is the demonising of men by certain feminists to gain this equality.

Women need to be ''promoted'' on the equality front to match men. It shouldn't be achieved by ''demoting'' men to match women.

    Both parties lose this way

I'd agree with you in terms of a 'race to the bottom' in terms of pay or access to management roles in the workplace for example but I don't see how this 'promotion' is going to work in the home.

So Bob the Builder goes home and wants to do diddly squat around the home because he's been brought up that way (his mother told him so and in any event 'men will be men'). His partner announces: I'm now equal with men Bob so there'll be no tea for you as I fancy doing diddly squat too.

Maybe that's why take aways are doing so well!!:rotfl:

It means he knows where the washing machine is but hasn't yet worked out how to use it ? ;)
