I'd support him in his choices, stand back & be ready with a shoulder if all goes wrong.

This is what I'd do too in the same circumstances. The OP's friend is an adult capable of making his own choices. If he chooses to be with this woman, so be it. If it does all go pear-shaped further down the line he will need friends and family who will comfort and support him rather than someone who smirks and says "I told you so", and who knows? It may work out fine - this woman may have hidden depths and be just what he needs from a partner.

What might be even more revealing than her clothes is if it were to come to your ears how those who know her best and longest feel about her.

If her family love her, if her colleagues value her etc.might be of far more value than any amount of supposition, assumption and innuendo.

At the end of the day, you have politely voiced your concerns and he has chosen to disregard them. Now back off, keep quiet and be as loyal as you know how to be.

Anything else is to damage your friendship beyond repair.

From that description I'm Mrs Perfect :)

If you're convinced she's carrying on with other men, surveil her for a while - what harm could come of that? ;-)

Has anyone read Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewicka? This thread is so reminding me of that book :rotfl:

There's the widowed elderly dad, and a gold-digging younger woman, and the 2 sisters who normally don't get along find themselves united in trying to rid him of this awful woman.

Yes! It's an odd little book but absolutely hilarious at the same time! Her others are well worth a read too, if you haven't already : )

I wonder how many more single men there would be in the world if all men listened to Mum and didn't marry unless Mummy approved of the woman ....................... Just sayin'

I think that as you have had your say - you should now give the woman a chance to prove you wrong. The relationship has lasted a year and he is still 'besotted' - or perhaps it really is true love? nobody can know what one person sees in another that perhaps we don't?

She's a "gold-digger", yet she has her own property?

She's obviously good at digging then!
