  • If there are no exit fees for moving between E.ON tariffs is the same true for other suppliers?

Switched to E.ON electric-only tariff at 5.15pm yesterday afternoon, have just received email from E.ON confirming switch is completed. Online acct is updated as well. Only saving a few pounds per month as was on the September MSE Collective deal before, but it pays for a pint once a month.

Just need to argue about my DD now as it was set too high in the first place as we got rid of an electric shower last year, and switched to LED lighting throughout...but I'll save that fight for another day!

    Hi mrpsmith

Glad all went through okay and your online account has been updated.

Thought I might be able to help with the Monthly Direct Debit and possibly save you a phone call. There's an online tool called the 'Direct Debit Manager' that was set up for situations just like you mention. Energy saving stuff like LED lighting and taking out the electric shower should see lower usage and, provided you've registered with our website, you can change your payments through this tool to better reflect these different circumstances.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.

Hope this helps mrpsmith and enjoy your pint.

New Zog tariffs on comp sites now. Cheapest for me - £40 saving but £30 exit or EDF next with £34 saving and no tie in. My daughter as a high user is still better off with EDF. Was quite happy with EDF previously so maybe bye bye Zog after 18 months.

Thanks for the heads up - finally managed to get onto CEC to check.

Looks like Zog have got just a bit too greedy with no movement whatever on the Saturn 12 tariff. Like a lot of energy companies they must think their customers are totally stupid.

Zog's Mercury 12 is the cheapest option for me but reinstates the £30 exit fee I recently paid them to move to the Saturn 12 tariff with no exit fee.

Zog had their chance and chose to squander it so like you I'm probably going to wave goodbye and take the EDF Blue+Price Promise February 2017 option - only £7 per year more expensive for me but with no exit fee.

Only down side is that you can not sign up to gas only on line.

Thanks I hadn't quite got that far at looking into it yet.

What a tangled web they weave and just like making things as difficult as possible.

I did know but thanks for your post anyway.

Just managed to get into CEC and have made the switch. (and just received email confirmation from CEC while typing this)

Btw I never did receive price alerts for V18 or V19 (checked all email folders).

Mind you, I checked the E.ON website and in the price alert faqs and T&Cs, it does say up to 10 working days. I think that makes it the last day today for V18 and a couple more days for V19, so there's still time! :rotfl:

No problem onzey. Happy to help. Glad you've made the switch okay and received the email.

To be honest, I'm not sure where we are with the Price Alerts for versions 18 and 19 of the Fixed 1 Year tariff. Customers on collective tariffs won't receive alerts as these are one off standalone tariffs and no new versions will be released. Customers like yourself, though, already on one of our fixes should be receiving email reminders about new versions. I did raise this with the relevant people here as I could see the confusion it was causing. Not saying this had any effect but I did ask if something could be done. Not been updated yet though.

Sorry to be vague but hope you're okay with your new tariff.

Not a daft question, but MSE have already confirmed in this thread that Eon will give you the dual fuel discount as long as you have both your gas & electricity with them - they don't need to be on the same tariff. :)

Spot on footyguy. As I've posted above, provided a customer has both their electricity and gas with us, they'll receive the dual fuel discount. This is regardless of the tariffs. It's only if they switch one fuel away that they'll lose this discount.

    @E.ON , I see your website says about 17 days to switch : https://www.eonenergy.com/for-your-home/help-and-support/changing-supplier-questions

Is that the same time frame when switching through a comparison website , or just direct on your website ?

    Many thanks

    Hi myxbox

Changes of supplier go through in about two and half weeks. This is round about 17 days allowing for weekends and Bank Holidays. As footyguy points out, this is from the time we receive the request from the broker (MSE in this case). From what's been posted on this thread today, these requests seem to be coming through quickly.

With collective switches generally, we allow up to 4 working days for details of new customers to hit our systems. It's a bit quicker for existing customers changing tariff. As above, though, seems to be happening quicker at the moment.

If you've registered with our website, you'll be able to see how things are going through an online tool called 'Track My Switch.'

    Hope this helps myxbox.

I think that we are now beginning to see bottom of the market. Bear in mind that with the very unseaaonal weather, none of the suppliers are shifting the kWhs of energy that they will have planned for. If Bob Diamond is right, OPEC et al will begin to play nicely again and oil prices will rise. I doubt that any of the energy companies will be waiting two years to raise their prices.

I am on Zog Saturn 12 and I am sticking for the moment - just in case I am wrong.

    Malc,

I know you say the above and have no reason to think its not true-but you reminded me of some feedback I have for your website guys.

In my account, if I view the current tariff (including unit rates etc), under "Additional products or services" included it states:

    - E.ON Reward Points are available on this tariff
    - Price Alert service available on this tariff

I have only ever been on a collective tariff with Eon on this particular account but it has always said this.

As such, they may want to make it clearer that collective tariffs are excluded from price alerts a) when signing up to alerts & b) under the tariff information.

    Best,
    Sunil
