there are two V19 tariffs, One is online and the other is not. Online one is cheaper. But it will depend on where you live if it will be cheaper than the EON MSE collective

I only got one electricity only v19, it appears it isn't online.

However that doesn't explain why the electricity only tariff isn't cheaper. I assume its because it doesn't take into account the dual fuel discount which MSE say EON say will still be paid, even though the two fuels are on different tariffs. But CEC doesn't seem to agree, which if anything went wrong then I would have no come back.

    Morning onzey.

Sometimes we have end dates for tariffs. They tend to be where they're a limited offer like the Collective Tariffs. I'll update this thread once I know something definite. To be honest, sometimes we're told after the end is announced publicly so please don't rely on me. Best to keep an eye on our website and the independent price comparison sites. This will be where they're announced first.

    Hope this helps onzey.

Following on from my reply on your other thread onzey. Just thought I'd keep my promise and do a belt and braces job by updating this thread too

Confirm, our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff ends at midnight tonight (4 February 16). It's being replaced with version 20. Details of the new tariff will be on our website and the independent comparison sites after this time.

Customers currently on our fixed term tariffs who have signed up for Price Alerts will receive an email letting them know all about the new tariff.

Sorry to repeat myself onzey but trying to be thorough.

    Hi Malc

I think based on recent experience the whole Price Alert thing is perhaps not quite what it appears to be at face value.

Unless you look into the Price Alert FAQs or T&Cs (or view threads on this forum), you are not likely to be aware that an alert could take up to 10 working days to arrive. I think this fact should be made more visible on the website. Tariffs can come and go in a 10 day time frame.

Further, on the E.ON Standards of Service webpage a link takes me to a brochure with the words "Because keeping a promise matters" followed by "Our Guaranteed Standards of Service make sure we do what we say we will"

    What Guarantee?

I've never had alerts for V18 or V19.

Presumably despite E.ON's T&Cs and fine words there is no real accountability regarding Price Alerts.

Anyway, thanks for the V20 alert on these forums. Now that's what I call a real alert. It makes me aware before the event! :)
  • Hi, Just got a quick question that I hope someone can help with please.

I was on the Sainsburys collective switch from last year which is due to finish the end of this month. So trying to be pro-active I started a switch to EDF last week as it had no cancellation charges and was hoping that another collective switch would come along soon. Just me luck that 2 days after submitting the switch request the new collective switch is announced! Now I want to make the switch to British Gas as it will save me around £70 per year but because I have a switch in progress (to EDF) I can’t, so yesterday I spoke to EDF and told them that I didn’t want to move and they have cancelled it no problem. Does anyone know how long this will take to show on here so I can then make the move to British Gas?
    Thanks in advance.

    @frost1979

Once sorted (which seems to be very quick) I would urge you to wait at least until tomorrow to see what Eon offer on their V20 tariff.

If cheaper, don't forget there is greater possible cashback available elsewhere (and then it doesn't matter if your CEC account is still locked).
  • Thanks for the quick replies and advice. Will send an email now and also wait to see what tomorrow has to offer.

Quick update all. Things have changed and we've extended the end date for our Fixed 1 Year version 19 tariff until Monday, 8 February 16.

The new version 20 tariff will be available from Tuesday, 9 February 16. Details will be available on our website and the independent comparison sites at this time.

Customers currently on our fixed term tariffs who have signed up for Price Alerts will receive an email letting them know all about the new tariff.

I'll update the other threads where I promised to let customers know about the end of version 19 too. Sorry for the confusion.

I was tied into EON and £60 exit fee couldn't be beaten, so I just switched to v19 and updated CEC. After I read your post I looked at the EON electricity collective on CEC but it says it would cost me more money, despite the cheaper unit rate. I'm still within the 14 day cooloff for the v19 switch, so I don't know if I could switch the electricity yet anyway. Then again in the CEC results the v19 tariff shows up as being more expensive than I currently pay, so I'm a little confused. Maybe CEC doesn't realise that I would still get the discount?

    Hi phillw

You'll be okay to change tariffs with us although you'll need to go through MSE's Cheap Energy Club if you want to go on to the MSE E.ON Electric Only tariff. You can move between our tariffs at any time without picking up an exit fee.

Confirm, you'll receive our dual fuel discount provided both the electricity and gas are with us. It doesn't matter that they might be on different tariffs. This discount is only stopped if one fuel moves to a different supplier. Not sure if the Cheap Energy Club takes this into consideration when looking at potential savings. Maybe Dan or Roxanne can advise?

    Hope this helps phillw.
