it's time to give my third meter reading to eon in 4 days. One for my 3 monthly statement one when i switched to v18 and now another for v19!

Hi andreww111 and welcome to the Forums.

Thank you for letting us have your meter readings so regularly. Just to let you know. Unless the account is within what's known as the 'Billing Window' (14 days either side of the next bill date for quarterly billed customers), the readings will be recorded but not used for billing. There is an online tool, though, called 'Real Time Billing' that gives you the option of creating your own bill if outside the 'Billing Window.' If you pop in your readings, you can choose to see the balance that would result or issue a bill. To do this, please choose 'Request a Bill.' This option isn't there if inside the 'Billing Window.'

If one set of readings is for your next bill, I suspect you're in or about to enter the 'Billing Window.'

Hope this is of interest andrewwl11.

  • Thanks for the reply...I've now just switched to V19.

One think having moved from EDF in the past (and I like their website layout) was the loss of "real person" chat which for personal inquiries worked very well. When I moved to EON it was a right mess for months without a bill due to the poor handover process. It was eventually resolved and compensation paid but took months made worse by poor communication back and forth by email

I signed up for version 18 and knew it had exit charges. Does anyone know if these apply if I switch to version 19?

As long as you stay with Eon the charges do not apply when you switch tariffs, they only apply if you switch to another supplier, so best to check often if you think there could be better tariffs.

I've just bumped over from the MSE switch tariff to this new one. Can't believe my price is now £79 a month, whereas a couple of years ago when I was on a long term fix until 2017 it was up at £130  I wonder how many people are still on those tariffs unnecessarily?

    Hi Storminmike1

I'm sorry you had a poor experience when you first joined us but glad you've switched to our new tariff okay.

Just a quick heads up. We're looking to sort out a Live Chat facility. Don't have a date yet but it's something that's very much in our plans for the website.

    Hope this is of interest.

    Hi Prudent

No charges for going from version 18 to 19 of our Fixed 1 Year tariff. As Meadows says, there's no exit fees involved when changing from one E.ON product to another.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello ic

Glad you've moved over to our new Fixed 1 Year tariff okay. That's quite a saving. Thought it might help to let you know how to make sure these payments cover the usage through an online tool called the 'Direct Debit Manager.' If you've registered with our website, you can use this to keep an eye on things and to make changes, including to the amount, to better reflect different circumstances. Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the change, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.

Our longer term fixes (Fixed 2 Year) tend to have higher prices at the start but guarantee not to raise unit prices or standing charges for the duration of the contract. Over 2 years, this often works out better but it can be a bit of a gamble if the market dips the way it has of late. As you know, there isn't an exit fee for moving between our tariffs so, if the market does go down and we release cheaper tariffs, you're free to move to them without penalty.

Hope this is of interest ic.
