E.ON to cut average gas price by 5.1%

The rates on Uswitch for E.ON V18 gas were:
Unit rate 2.852p per kWh
Standing charge 21.90p per day
hardly any difference but where did you get yours from?
Hi HardSpend
Those prices are for gas on the new Fixed 1 Year Dual Fuel tariff (version 18) and include VAT. This tariff isn't available as gas only though. It's either Dual Fuel or single electric.
The prices molerat quotes are also the gas part of the same tariff but, as NittyGritty says, for a different part of the country.
Hope this explains.

In a so called open market I've never quite understood how prices vary region to region. Add to that British Gas for holding our estate to ransom as an Independent Gas Transporter with a ludicrous cost per metre/houshold charge.
PS Just switched v18 from MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 2015 Online for a whopping £2 a month saving. Regardless of which....when's the smart meter coming my way?0 -
EDF is currently showing as cheapest now over my Zog no exit fee but, as you say, let's wait and see.
EDF 2.099p / 26.25p - no exit fee TCR 2.87p £474
Zog 2.520 / 14.70p - no exit fee TCR 2.95p £507
E.ON 2.714p / 21.9 p £30 exit fee TCR 3.23p £553
V18 electric still dearer than MSE fix.
SSE 2.1p / 23.02p £30 exit fee TCR 2.77p £462
Hold tight, let's see if the little guys can fight back !0 -
Just checked my tariff with EDF and I'm paying (TCR) 3.44 / 12.94 per kWh, fixed until November with no exit fees. So still cheaper than E.on overall.0

Hi Storminmike1 and welcome to the Forums.
Glad you've switched okay. Every little helps as they say. Even though the savings may not be great, you'll be on a more competitive tariff for longer than if you had stayed on the collective. This should help keep costs down for a bit longer.
We've been rolling out Smart Meters for quite a time now. We're currently installing them in many parts of the country. It depends on things like the actual area, the strength of the mobile phone signal and the current metering set up. They're free and ours come with an energy display to help you keep track of your usage. There's more information on our website including a form to register an interest. There are some useful FAQs too. We've also dedicated teams who deal exclusively with all things Smart. They'll be in touch when we receive the form to let you know the options.
With energy prices, there are many factors which influence the way they vary around the country. To be honest, I'm no expert in this field but I do know things like how the energy is generated/produced, where we buy it from and how it's transported can all affect the costs and, by extension, what we charge. When we buy it can also have an impact.
For instance, the costs of transporting energy differ. Electricity in areas well served by power stations may be cheaper than if it has to be transported over long distances. Similarly, with gas. If imported from say, Europe, it'll be cheaper to supply the East of the country rather than the West as it doesn't have as far to go. Demand in specific regions might also have an impact. The cost of supplying remote areas is often greater than providing energy to cities with large concentrations of population. Additional charges from the local distributor might be passed on too. Sometimes, even the weather plays a part as it might affect the demand for energy and so, too, the price we pay.
These are just a few of the various influences on energy pricing. There are other factors, some of which are continually changing and sorry to be vague. As I say, I'm no expert and could be off beam but hope it gives you a bit of an insight.

I am on the MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 2015 Online MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 2015 Online
My gas is 3.127 / 21.903
My electric is 10.584 / 16.244
Total £62 a month
If I switch to EON Fixed 1 Year v18 Online
My gas would be 2.852 / 21.903
My electric would be 10.028 / 16.903
Total £61 a month ?!!?
Is it worth me switching !?!?0 -
Appears that E.ON has now opted out of all the cashback websites  - no cashback payable for E.ON Version 18 - crafty move by E.ON and they want to increase my monthly payments, if I change!
Dual Fuel cancellation fee £60 to change providers - I'll wait it out, see what deals the other providers come up with. Maybe E.ON will opt back in to the cashback sites0 -
Am I correct in assuming that the new v18 is AUTOMATICALLY going to replace the v17? 😕
I only had my paperwork today confirming I'm on the v17 .. confused or what!0 -
