Energy giant E.ON is to cut its standard gas price by an average of 5.1% and has launched what it claims is the cheapest fixed tariff on the market.
The February 1 cut, which it says is the equivalent of £32 off an average annual gas bill, comes after all the big energy companies have faced mounting criticism for failing to pass on falling wholesale prices to consumers.
E.ON said the new tariff – a one year fixed dual fuel deal with an average annual price of £783 – would be “Britain’s cheapest energy tariff available today”.

Typical when I've just left them to go to EDF. I wonder whether the others will follow suit. Also wonder whether those of us on fixed term tariffs will benefit from any cuts.0

Energy giant E.ON are adding £100 to my Economy7 electricity only annual bill.
Both day and night unit price is going up. Night unit price by about 20%, day unit price by about 13%.
Are electricity prices likely to come down in the foreseeable future?0 -
Is the discounted price the E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v18 or will there be a v19 released later today?0

I'm currently on the E.ON MSE Fixed 1 Collective Sept 2015 and this one is slightly cheaper....is it still free to switch between Eon products without incurring exit fees?0

The details are already on EONs websiteWe’re cutting gas prices on all of our Residential tariffs, so find our best energy package for you. Wholesale gas prices have gone down, and we’re able to reduce all1 of our Residential tariffs2 to pass the savings on to you. Over a year, this could save you the equivalent of three weeks' gas use3.
**Effective from 1 February 2016. 1 Customers already on a Fixed energy plan will need to switch to one of our newer versions. 2 E.ON EnergyPlan, E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v18, E.ON Energy Fixed 2 Year v8, Age UK Fixed 2 Year v6. 3 Gas price reduction applied as a 6.14% single unit rate reduction meaning that this is equivalent to 3 weeks' gas use or £32 off an average annual gas bill.0 -

Its the v18.
Electricity prices seem to have been cut as well but for me my collective EON iChooser/UK Power tariff remains cheaper.0 -

Hi onzey
Today's announcement of a reduction in our standard prices from 1 February 16 only applies to the gas. Our standard electricity prices aren't affected. We've not seen the same falls in costs for electricity as we have for gas and many of the other costs we don't control have or may increase.
Sounds like you're on a fixed electricity deal that is coming to an end or has already finished. Totally understand how facing a new product after a period of guaranteed prices can come as a bit of a shock. I'd pop your usage in kWh on to the independent comparison sites. This will list all the options open to you both with us and with the other suppliers.
There are no exit fees for changing from one E.ON product to another. If you change supplier, you may be within the Price Protection window (open from the date on the renewal notice until 20 working days after the end of your current tariff). Provided we're told, we'll keep you on the lower prices whilst the change goes through (usually takes about two and a half weeks). Exit fees don't apply whilst the window is open either.
Hope this is of interest onzey.

Hi arcadia
We've released version 18 of our Fixed 1 Year tariff today. This has replaced version 17 with immediate effect. Although I don't have an end date for the new tariff yet, a version 19 won't be released today.
If you're on one of our fixed deals and have signed up to our online 'Price Alerts' service, you'll receive an email to let you know about the new tariff. It'll also start to appear on bills, statements and Annual Summaries. Full details are on our website and the independent price comparison sites now.
Hope this helps arcadia.

Sadly I have already switched to OVO from Eon, even with the new cut we will save as for us the biggest bill is our electric not the gas, plus hopefully the cashback will come through as well.
Will watch the various other companies and see if prices drop further in the next few months as our Ovo fixed rate has no exit fee. Always nice to hear news of companies dropping prices tho.
