The last 2 weeks I have done my weekly shop via a Mr T delivery and have spent much less than normal, £152.66 out of a budget of £285 leaving £132.34 for the rest of the month.

I get paid on 29th Feb so if I had a weekly delivery each remaining week of this pay month I would need 3, on the 11th, 18th and 25th. This afternoon I have meal planned for the rest of the month with a view to only having a delivery on 11th and 25th but have realised that I could easily get to the 29th (pay day) on 1 delivery and a top up on the 18th and 25th of fruit, bread and milk.

My order for the 11th is £93.12 leaving me £39.22 for 2 small top up shops. The order includes meat, a lot of frozen veg, loo roll, some RM for DH for when I am working away and dog food. I have included a couple of treats to hide away and space out across the rest of the month too.

I haven't tried a fortnightly shop/delivery before so fingers crossed it all works out.

  • Another shop of £8.05 at Sainsbobs today, leaving me the princely sum of £7.27 to last until pay day on the 19th. I really only needed fresh basil for tonight's meal and naan bread for tomorrow but because I'm getting a bit bored with the meals I have in the freezer I thought I would draw up the next couple of weeks meal plan and make my shopping trip worthwhile and very carefully planned.

Part of my new years resolution was to break habits that I had gotten into and that includes the way I shop - I very rarely buy the big name brands and have bought supermarket own brands for years but have only been buying certain items in the basics range.....why??....probably habit. So over the next week I will be trying out basic frozen white fish fillets, sausages and cooked ham.

Melanzane Parmigiana for dinner, using half a 39p Lid! aubergine, a 15p egg, hm tomato & basil sauce and a good sprinkling of parmasan, cheap and cheerful :j best get going and griddle my aubergine slices :D.

Lidl instant Porridge. Ingredients - rolled oats and Lecithin (stabiliser)... so you pay the extra for the paper packet. I shall be making my own up with lovely organic oats, a spoonful of dried skimmed milk powder, a pinch of salt in a plastic bag and taking a picnic set dish to work. I shall do these by pouring on hot water in the office and leaving them for 2-3 minutes to absorb the water. For less than the so-called instant porridge. My conclusion? they all try to rip us off.

Now I think about it, Morries had some small 360g packs of cereal on offer last week, 2 for £5 but they were much more expensive than the 2 for £3 500g packs of the same cereals just without dried fruit in it. You can buy dried fruit for less than the difference and still have 280g more cereal.

It's not just me is it?

    Hi everyone,

    Budgets updated to here :)

    Welcome/welcome back:
    lollyfin and Effyb4 :D

We are doing okaaaaaay...... I went to T's today to get some top up items. DH likes crumpets in the morning and used the last ones out of the freezer without telling me - why he thinks I will notice when I don't eat them is beyond me. Anyhow, also bought 4 bottles of beer and some snack sausage rolls, cocktail sausages and pork pies for DH to take to a party tomorrow night. He is in panto tonight and tomorrow as the Dame - red stilettos in a size 11 anyone. He is already complaining of bunions from the dress rehearsal, so quite how he will get on tonight dancing around to Dolly Parton's 9to5 is anyones guess....

Sorry back on target. It's DS1s birthday today and instead of going out to the rib shack place with me, DD and DS2 he decided he would rather have dominoes pizza. £45 as opposed to around £100 will hopefully keep up on track - still a rip off though!!!

We are on holiday 14-21st Feb fully catered. I have meal-planned for every night until we go away, with only f&v to buy, then we have 4 nights after the holiday to buy for.

B&M have just opened in our town. Haven't had a chance to go in yet, but any tips on best buys (that aren't cheaper in Aldi, Tesco and Poundland). TIA.

    Have a good evening all.

Spent £8.88 in the farm shop on meat and a fennel. Ran out of loo roll so a trip to Home B's for lots of loo rolls and some toiletries and a few bits ended up spending £12.48. Made sure I bought extra loo rolls so I don't have to return. I always get carried away in HB and come out with more than's on my list. Did really well today and resisted temptation
