Horrible day today - it was sheet ice going from the car park into work - I hate it and walked like a 90 year old on it - I was so scared of slipping and putting my arm out to save myself doing more damage.

I have been out with school and a few of the kiddiewinks this morning to another school - curling....I was intrigued as on the olympics they play on ice. Anyway there was a stone or puck whatever the correct terminology is with ball bearings underneath - it just glided across the floor - a great sport accessible to all the ones I work with.

Think we are just having a takeaway at ds house this evening for his birthday - doesn’t entice us to want to go out much in this weather but we need to acknowledge his birthday on the day for him.

Curling sounds great , always associate it with Scotland . Enjoy your takeaway with DS. Our car park at work was very slippy as well. Take care .

    Finally caught up.

Wow. I don't even know what to say. You're amazing.

Today - how icy was this morning  I thought I was alone but you're not far from here and you agree. Smalls thought me slipping everywhere was hilarious!

Don't blame you for taking care on the ice milann. I used to walk quite confidently over it years ago but really take my time now -especially as I fractured my wrist last year! Don't need that again!

The curling sounds fun. I had a boss years ago who was Scottish and used to play it on the ice. Those days I thought it was a form of ice hockey before he put me right!:D

Hope you enjoyed the birthday takeaway and DS had a lovely day.

Thank you Wannabe, I don’t think I’m amazing at all - life throws stuff at us and we just have to cope best we can - not much else we can do really. There are lots of amazing folks on these boards yourself included.

Well the snow arrived yesterday and I was hoping for a snow day. Most of the other schools nearby were shut but our head was stuck in traffic for best part of 3 hours for a journey of around 5 miles....no decision could be made without her. By the time she got to us most of the children were in. A few staff didn’t make it in - it took me 45 minutes whereas I did in in 7 minutes earlier in the week....I stayed to main roads which I expected to be gritted but they weren’t - made for some scary driving. There were cars abandoned and folk slipping all over - that was the big main road between my town and nearby big town. The children did have a good day though - they had extra playtimes in the snow on the field - no snowball fights allowed but they built all sort of structures.

We ended up going to see ds for his birthday and went to a lovely 50s style American diner across the road from him. The burgers are home made and really reasonable- ds had been out for lunch at work and didn’t want a big meal...I always enjoy going there and since we had a big meal at weekend to celebrate he just wanted something low key. They serve the most amazing milk shakes - it’s the only place I like them as most places make them too sweet. I had peanut and chocolate - it was like a snickers bar in a drink.Ds was more than happy with the cash we gave him and is putting it towards a new phone.

I’ve just paid my cc in full - I am so pleased as I even have some cash left in my bank account - not much but I’m so often into pennies once I’ve paid it off. I still feel slightly on catch up - using all my wages to pay my card off each month. I’ve got another week until my January is over - I get my new bill on 7th February- so far I’ve managed to stay around £380 including all the spends from weekend and birthday celebrations. I should have a few months with no birthdays and no big spends that I know of so I want to build some savings so I have more cash in than the cc bill coming in and don’t have to use all my wages paying it - not sure that reads well or makes sense but i know what I mean.

The jury is still out whether or not I go to SW on Saturday morning - I know I’ll have had a big gain but all the celebrations are behind me now and I should be able to knuckle down....or should I save a fiver a week to put towards new clothes or a nice spa day somewhere.....decisions decisions ;)

Take care in the ice everyone - especially you Beanie - I drove into the car park this morning - looked at the frozen snow - drove round and parked outside on the road - walking on the road until I got to the school gates. (The carpark belongs to a local sport club which allows school to use it.)

    Burger place sounds lush :)
Great news on the CC bill & still having pennies left :)
Still have not been out as still still not very mobile & certainly could not risk it. Getting cabin fever now :(
Glad you were careful on the drive to work & walk into work. Phew.
